Wood Fence Repair
The person in charge regularly overstated what would be done and when. For example, he said that the fence could be built in 3 days (it took them 8 days, not including the painting aspect). I was told several times that they would return around 9 a.m. the next day, but it was usually mid-day. He also told me once that someone would be arriving at 1 p.m. the next day to do some work. I stayed at home that day waiting for that person, who never came. That wasted my time and kept me from being able to go to my office for the work I needed to do. Also, they agreed to build the fence to look the same as the fence on the opposite side of the yard, but failed to include a board that was supposed to run along the bottom of the fence, which was visible as a part of the other fence. This resulted in the new fence having an unattractive gap above the ground, with no willingness to follow the agreement. I felt that the overall cost was rather high, but it was a long fence. I requested a statement that would give me some idea of what the costs were for various aspects, but I was told that builders do not provide that information. I indicated that other builders had always provided me with some form of statement of costs, so I finally received a very brief list of a few aspects and the percentage of the total cost in each of the general categories. It seemed to be a desire to hide the information from me. The workers were very good, but I do not plan to work with this company again unless they make some significant managerial changes.
