We entered into a contract to have a large locust tree removed from our backyard. The salesman who spoke to my wife said they would remove the tree, all debris and clean up like they were never there in 2 days for $1,800. We agreed and they started working around 12:30ish that day. At almost 5pm that day, I came home from work and my entire back yard was covered with huge logs and debris everywhere. The foreman of this job assured me that when they left that day it would all be cleaned up. They torn down the gate to my back fence to get their ditch witch in there but we were assured it would be fixed. At some point during this first day, they cut a large limb off of the tree and it fell on the fence damaging my fence rail and fence, which is chain link. Again, we were told it would be fixed. A little after 5 they crew was packing up to leave and my wife asked them if they were going to clean up the yard and the foremans response was do you see what time it is? They left that day with our back yard in a total mess. The next day when they were to return, it was a beautiful day, and at 11:00 that morning, still nobody was there. My wife called the owner Joel and he stated that his tree climber had to take part in a court ordered visit with his child that day and there was apparently some miscommunication. When I was told this, I called Joel myself and he explained the same thing to me. He told me that he could try and get the crew out there but that only one guy had a drivers license and he had give them the day off. I asked about the damaged fence and he paused and asked what I meant. His foreman didnt even tell him they damaged my fence. Joel did tell me that they would take care of it. Both my wife and I expressed concerns about them coming the following day as it was forecasted to rain all day. Joel stated they work in any weather except for lightning. He didnt even know what price had been quoted for the job but did offer 10% off for the inconvenience. So now we are at day 3 o a promised 2 day job. It is pouring down rain and they are at our house. The drove the ditch witch into our back yard and our neighbors side yard tearing it up. It was a non-stop rain pretty much all morning and into mid afternoon. My wife asked the foeman to not use the ditch witch because it was tearing up the yard but his response was if you dont want the wood Ill do what I gotta do. On this day, they again dropped a large limb on my fence and didnt say a word about it. They tried to quickly fix it, but we saw it happen and took pictures of it. They never said a word about it. At about 8pm the foreman wanted paid and we refused because they didnt finish the job. Our driveway was full of huge logs, our backyard had a huge pile of sticks and logs and our fence gate was laying in the yard. The next day they were supposed to come back and clean up the drive, yard, fix the fence, etc. They showed up at around 9:30, loaded their ditch witch in their trailer and left. The foreman called my wife and said they didnt do any work because she had cussed them out, which was a total lie. They didnt even come to our door and we have outside cameras with audio and video to prove it. That day we hired another contractor to clean up their mess. The owner, Joel, called my wife and said he was coming to our house on Friday to see the work/damage and he didnt even show up or call. The foreman called us several times on Saturday wanting paid and we continued to refuse. When my neighbor called to complain to Joel about the damage to her yard, he called her a ******** ****** and hung up on her. This company has many complaints just like this one and I recommend you definitely do your research on them before hiring them to do anything.

Don't pay him until the job is finished, make sure you have a written contract.
Response from Productive Tree and Mulch, LLC
"Craig we talked your project over several times I had attempted to write a contract with you and you said you didn't have time you were on lunch we did everything that we discussed and even in the end did 1000 dollars worth of work for free and we settled up with payment in the beginning of the job I had told you that the hunny suckle would get beat up and you said it was fine just get the dead trees out in the end you even told me everything looked great and now you want more free work that is taking advantage we will not return to do anymore future projects of yours"

I 1st wrote Home Advisor around 4:50 pm. I work 6 days a week so I do not have much time to dedicate to this type of necessary chore. I also have a good idea what this job cost from prior experience. I had 2 contractors call and set up appointments within minutes. Joel form Productive stated he was in the area and could be there in 15 minutes. So I agreed to have him stop by and quote the job. The job was so reasonable I said Okay. I said when, he said how about now. He had a team of men who were very courteous, respectful with him and they did an excellent job in about 20 minutes. I was having dinner with my family at 6 PM. I would not hesitate for a moment to use them again.

They were quick but it was sort of expensive. The only complaint I have is relatively minor...they didn't wear safety gear.

Sadly, after a good first impression, I cannot write a positive review. He agreed to come back three times on the phone to cut the left wood into manageable pieces as he said he would do at the time of the work. Now I will have to hire another person to do that work. I have given his cards out but have told those people that this company is unreliable.

We've had contractors in the past do minimal quality, value and had no knowledge of trees/landscaping.This company showed up when they said they would, charged what they said it would cost and not a penny more, The owner clearly knew what he was talking about, by immediately correctly identifying our issues and offering affordable solutions. They were friendly, respectful, and clearly concerned about customer satisfaction. In the end our yard and trees looked great and they picked up every last bit of waste produced by the trimming. We are looking forward to using them again for additional services, and will pass on their information to anyone needing this kind of work, without hesitation

Came and gave me an estimate of $1,000. $900 that day and $100 When he came back in two weeks with stump grinder to finish the job. After four weeks he wouldn't return calls. Told me that day he had a large stump grinder, so the stumps would be no problem, now he's telling me he has to rent one. He said he considers this job complete ?!?!
Response from Productive Tree and Mulch, LLC
"For all viewers reviewing this post this client Danny is not being 100% truthful he was never there for any conversation of this contract his wife was the one that spoke with me in regards to this the only time I've spoke with him was on the phone I never agreed to any stump removal in fact I told his wife I do not offer those services and if you would like to research this fact with Home Advisor Home Advisor has known since the initial startup of my partnership with them I've never offered the services it would never mislead somebody to believe otherwise I did it exceptional job and fulfilled my contract to the fullest and then some"

I am puzzled why I received such bad service from this company after reading other good reviews. After paying upfront in February for a "1-day job" and 4 months later (june 20) the work is not done and the reimbursement the owner promised me for uncompleted work (stump grinder broken) has never been given to me. I have a stump that still hasn't been removed, a landscape rock moved and not replaced, and damage to my lawn. The owner of this business has not completed one promise made to me, so I DO NOT want another call back from this owner. I'm glad others had better service. I'm accepting my losses and moving on.
