This company does not have a New York license for plumbing, which includes gas installations. The only license we have found under the name of this entity is for a general contractor in Easton, Pennsylvania not a plumbing contractor in Suffolk County, New York. It is fraudulent for Home Advisor to solicit business for this company in this state and locality without having the simplest and most basic form of proof on its in-house records, specifically, a license number proving that it is licensed to practice the trade of plumbing in the Town of Brookhaven. On a gas installation, a licensed plumber is required to (1) pressure test the system before adding any new appliances, (2) check that the cumulative BTUs of all the appliances in the system are within the capacity of the gas meter, and (3) obtain permits from the municipality for (a) a certificate of occupancy and (b) a building permit. This is called pulling the permits. The plumbing work, upon completion, will have to inspected by the Town after the system is pressure tested and before it is certified. In addition, as a mandatory element of a gas installation, the plumber is required to install shut-off valves on the floor level so that the appliance can be turned off without turning off the gas supply to the entire house. A licensed plumber is responsible for all of the above, and if he or she fails to comply, the plumbers license is liable to be revoked. These plumbers came into our house, did not pressure test the system, obtained no permits from the Town of Brookhaven, and left the job without installing shut-off valves. The work they did will have to be ripped out and replaced by a licensed professional. If this situation is not remedied, we will not have a valid certificate of occupancy for the house, which puts the entire value of the house at risk, in addition to the safety risk of having a leaky gas line in a residence. This unlicensed plumbing company replied to Home Advisor with the ludicrous claim that the appliance installer is supposed to install shut-off valves on our gas line to the appliance. Their defense, in other words, is that we have been victimized by a lazy installer. This is ludicrous. The appliance installer would be breaking the law if he or she did anything to a gas system other than turn off the valve behind the appliance and connect that appliance to the gas line. This situation should seriously concern everyone who relies on Home Advisor, which has done nothing so far to protect the public from possibly poisonous and explosive gas installations based on its fraudulent listing of an unlicensed plumber.
Response from Python Properties LLC
"This customer has no clue on how to proceed with appliance and gas service installation and is a danger to her household and neighbors... please be advised! She is proceeding in an unsafe manner and taking advice from ill-advised appliance vendors while ignoring over 40 years of construction experience and knowledge that this company has in its employees, staff, and ownership. Capped gas lines are the only way to go when no appliances are in place as we have advised Home Advisor and the client, which is how we proceeded. This valuable knowledge has fallen upon deaf ears. Finally, this customer lives over 1000 miles away from where the work wa..."
