Water Removal Recovery Service
This company came out to dry the wood resulting from a hot water heater leak in my garage! Minimal damage was done...mostly just the base that the water heater sits on! I had the main water to the house shut off while we were on vacation, so it was just the water that was in the tank that leaked out of the bottom and on to the base it sits on! The drywall and wood under the drywall was wet along with a small amount of the drywall behind the water heater that was slightly wet from wicking from the base! All they did was cut out the drywall behind the base and move the water heater to the garage so they could dry the wood! They bring in 10 different drying machines for just a small amount of wetness and leave them there for 5-6 days even though it was bare dry to the touch the next morning! Only a couple of spots, that they had to search for, were wet enough just so they could get a reading on their meters! They said oh the insurance companies won't pay unless it's under a certain number of dryness! After a few days... they even had to try harder to find a place where their stupid meters could get a reading to justify leaving the drying machines there for more days! The entire wooden base the water heater sits on, could have been replaced for under $50 worth of wood instead of these ridiculous machines that they charge the insurance companies to rent from them! Total example of fraud and abuse! They said it had to be completely bone dry or mold could form! Hell...mold on a wooden base a water heater sits on in the garage...give me a break!! They just wanted to suck out as much money as they could from the insurance company for a job that should have been less than $500!! You wonder why our insurance rates keep rising every year...perfect example of why... inflating the bill because the insurance company is paying for it... not the home owner! This should make everyone angry! After talking to my insurance company...I found out from them, that Restoration companies are the largest contributor to fraud and abuse due to the ridiculous prices they charge for their drying machines! Hell they even charged me for a air purification machine even though it was in the garage... not the house! Watch out for these kind of companies that come out to dry your house out after some water damage... they will take the insurance companies for all they can and then some! Furious!
Response from Quick Dry Restoration
"Mr. John S, This is Anton Skoro the owner of Quick Dry Restoration. I have spoken with you a few times to try and resolve your concerns and issues, as I will do here as well. I don't think that the problem comes with the job that our company preformed, but the fact that you are trying to keep the money the insurance paid out for the work that was done, so you won't have to pay your deductible. Like I had/have explained we do not determine the price of the work that was done. We take measurements of the materials that we tear out, and input them into the insurance industries billing program. That program dictates what the work was worth, once that bill is determined by the program, we send it to your insurance adjuster along with pictures of the damage before we started, throughout the process, and once the job is completed (proving that the area is dry). Your insurance would never pay for something that was not warranted and it's one of the many reasons why we provide so much proof on the work that we completed (Including moisture meters, thermal imaging pictures, etc.) Also, for situations like this when a customer doesn't think that we did much work. Inside your dining room, we have photos showing that you had moisture above your baseboards and behind the baseboards. I'd be more than happy to send these to you for your records. I know that my guys also showed you the damage during the moisture mapping process, before we ever got started. To say that the amount of moisture was minimal and things were only damp to the touch, would be misleading to say the least. For water to leak through your garage wall and into your dining room, would be much more than just a small amount as you are implying. As far as us trying to find moisture in every spot, that is our job and I am happy to hear that my crews looked in every corner for moisture. We would never want to do the job in what could be viewed as in a rush, not caring, or lazy. It is our job to check every area that is wet, to ensure that we have dried out the effected areas completely. The inside was pulled the first day that it was dry, which was one day ahead of the allotted time set forth by the industries standard dry time of three days. Your dining room was reading at 100% Saturation on tearout day, 25-35% on day one of check up, and 8-12% on day two of check up. The Garage read much higher and was the source of the leak. (Which would explain the extra time needed to dry it.) You state that you were not worried about the mold in the garage and that it was just a wet stand, however that is also not true. The water leaked from your garage into your property (Photos and readings with instruments to prove this) and caused internal damage. The concern for mold inside the home, inside the walls, as well as rot caused by water damage is all real things that do happen. Not only does it make it harder to sell a home with these things, but the insurance will not cover most claims if these things occur. You can say that we inflated the bill and did all of these terrible sounding things, however we work off the insurances pricing system. They are the ones that control the price of all materials removed and all equipment used in the process of restoration from a fan, dehumidifier, or air scrubber. They would never pay a bill that they felt was unjust or unwarranted. We have to prove everything we do in order to get paid. I could understand your frustration if we billed your insurance imaginary prices or billed you personally. Your insurance found the work we did to be up to standard and in line and fair with the work scope we did. Had they not, they would not have cut the check. I'd be more than happy to take a phone call from you or your adjuster if they have any issues with how this was handled, as most of the information you have put out in this review is easily proved to be misleading or untrue. Stay Blessed."
