Stay away! Ryan McCarley took my money and provided no service. There are numerous reviews on the Internet from people claiming to be scammed just as I was. He has an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau. I do not believe Home Advisor performed a background check of Mr. McCarley, in violation of their representations to the public, as they would have easily found all the negative reviews and stories from consumers who have been scammed. I have never dealt with someone so unprofessional and non-responsive. He came to my house more than 7 months ago to fix an ice maker. He said a new one would have to be ordered. I paid him in full up front the entire amount. I never saw him again. He never answers his phone. He rarely responds to texts. I have even sent him letters. RNT is a one man operation with no business office. I've called and texted him many times over many months, to no avail. His stories have changed multiple times. First, the ice maker was on "back order" for months. Then, he said he had it and would install it as soon as possible. Next, he said he might not have it after all. I was then told that he was having personal, family problems, which was the reason for the delays. Even 7 months after he was supposed to install the ice maker, I offered to pick it up and have someone else install it if he didn't want to do the work. He never responded to my requests, confirming my suspicion that he had never ordered the ice maker. I am now preparing to take legal action against Mr. McCarly, as well as Home Advisor for its failure to conduct a background check in violation of its representations to consumers.

This is in reference to Ryan McCarley, the appliance repair man you referred to me on 8/25/17. Ryan arrived promptly on Saturday 8/26/17, as agreed, and made his assessment that my refrigerator required a part. The total cost of part and service was $227.16, for which I paid him in advance. He stated that it would take a week for the part to be delivered and he would return for the repair then. Ryan has not returned since, it is now more than three weeks later. He has cashed the check for $227.16. I have repeatedly called him, but he does not answer my calls and does not return my messages.

Ryan came to my house and told me repairs needed. Collected money for parts and said he would be back in 5 days. It has been 7 weeks and haven't seen him. Always has an emergency or is out of town. Now he has to return the part and deduct a service call before he can refund my money. SAVE YOURS, don't call RNT!

RNT promptly came out to repair a Fridge. The tech said it needed a Control Board, and took $160 for the part which he said had to be ordered. After that, he never returned phone calls and it turned out the problem was not even a Control Board.

Zero communication follow ups. I had to constantly call to get updates. Returned with timer part a week late and started to take apart the dryer instead of the broken washer. I had to tell him he was on the wrong machine!!! Then he installed the timer knob 180 degrees out so I had to reaccomplish all of the work. Take off control panel, reset knob, etc. I tried to call and tell him he had done the work incorrectly but of course I got no answer.

Ryan was on time. Very professional. Gave options of installing new circuit board for range, or he could disconnect the top element that was stuck on all the time. I could still use the oven just not the broiler, saving me over $200.00. He only charged me for a service call. In today's world, it is nice to see someone in the service business that is honest and is not always thinking of the almighty dollar. He could have charged me for the part and installation and I would have never had the option he gave me. Thank you Ryan for your professionalism, and honesty. I would definitely use RNT again.

Called them about my freezer not cooling or making ice in a Samsung refrigerator freezer. Came out quickly and diagnosed the fan was not working and the icemaker was shot.said they had to order the parts. Paid them for the parts and was told they would be back when the parts came in 7 to 10 working days. Only owed them for labor when they returned. 21 days later came back to do the repairs. Installed the parts and said would need more money for labor. I paid them an extra $95.00 for labor which brought the total to $195.00 for labor and $377.91 for parts ($572.91 total). They left and said there was a 90 day warranty on parts and labor and to call if we had any issues. Icemaker made ice 1 time and freezer still did not get cold. After repeated phone calls and text messages 3 of them showed up on June 30 and decided that the temp sensor and door switch was bad and they would come back after July 4th and replace them at no charge to me. It is now July 26 and they will not return phone calls or text messages. Sent a text message today at 10:03 am and just asked if they were coming back as promised. It is now 8:10 pm and have not received a response. Today marks 60 days since they first showed up and started repairs. Very unprofessional and apparently not very knowledgable in this type of repair. May be able to replace parts but no troubleshooting skills that I can tell. I hate to use " unprofessional" towards service oriented businesses but this fits. Customer service is just plain nonexistent.

They replied within a minute to my first inquire. The tech was here within an hour. He identified the problem, explained it to me, then fixed it relatively quickly. I am happy with the work done and the overall experience. I will certainly call them again as needed.

Set up the appointment for the next day. Figured out a longstanding problem we had been having. Very impressed with his honesty. Although he diagnosed the issue, and could have repaired our washer, he advised us that in his opinion we would do better by replacing it. Really appreciated his up-front evaluation, when he makes his living doing these types of repairs.

Ryan quickly responded to my request for a service call. He was polite, professional, and very knowledgeable. He repaired my dryer. I thought his price was very reasonable. So glad I found him. From now on I know who to call for all my appliance repair needs.

Don’t be fool with the promise that Mr. Ryan makes. I called him to repair my over the range microwave. He was so prompt to answer the first call just to come and check the problem, because he knows that once I agree to do business with him, he will make quick service fee money. He quoted me $75 service fee, which I agreed to. He took out the over the range microwave which I was glad to help. Then, he started opening up few screws. The way he was working like he was doing really hard and difficult work. So, I started to help him to unscrew few screws, too. He was not keeping the unscrewed screws (which he needs to put back) in organized manner, so I guess it shows that he is not that organized and careful in his work. Anyway, after checking with the new fuse which I provided, it went off, and he said that I need to change the mother board circuit which is expensive. So I decided to buy the brand new microwave. He agreed to come back and install new microwave with extra $40 or $45 depends upon work. He said the service fee (which I just paid) will go toward installation fee. It’s clearly written in his receipt. I bought the exact size new microwave, and called him. It went to his voice mail. So, I left the message. No call back from him, so I called him again in few hours. This time he answered and said he needs to check his schedule and will call back in afternoon because he is extremely busy. I said OK. Then no call back whole day. I follow up next day, again he said he will check his schedule and can come tomorrow and will call me with the time. Then, I had a feeling that this guy already made his quick money and he is not going to come back. And I was right, he NEVER call me back. I honestly thought he was a nice and honest person when I met him first time. I even told him I have couple of rental properties and I will call him if I need him in future. He just lost a potential future customer. So, don’t go with his naïve face and appearance. BE CAREFUL and STAY AWAY from Mr. Ryan from RNT Appliance Repair. Mr. Ryan, if you are reading this, my quick advice to you … keep in mind that “trust, honesty and keeping the word” is a long way to go to do any business. So, don’t always look for making quick money.
