During our long lives,We've moved households more than a dozen times, locally, nationally, overseas. Always on our own dime, no gravy train for poor old us! University Moving and Storage IS AMONG THE RARE BEST. UM&S are HEROS across all the steps of a move: 1.) SALES MEETING AND QUOTE: Extremely pro, no blah-blah, with relevant interest in what we feel. Shared practical knowledge but also insights into how the industry operates today. Understood our particular needs and apprehensions. Presented alternatives and cost/benefit probabilities. Quote was spot-on with actuals. None of the other 6 companies that my wife and I interviewed came close to even competing with the value that UM&S communicated. AND THEY DELIVERED! 2.) PACKING: Packers are skilled craftspeople. We had a team of two men, the more experienced packer carefully guided the newer to develop his skills and checked his work. All boxes were labeled clearly with their contents, manifest sticker and entered onto the manifest. 3.) LOADING: The dispatcher confirmed, throughout the process, all information about the truck driver and his team. Driver picked up on time with the capability to get the shipment out safely and quickly; the shipment paperwork complete and well organized. 4.) UNLOADING: Driver arrived on time, well aware of the particularities of the arrival site. NO SURPRISES or unexpected costs. The unloading team were full of pep, energy and team spirit, carefully placing everything as we directed. After we had time to unpack, all was in perfect condition. This relocation was a big move, from Athens, GA to Oakland, CA. I had many special requirements, many complexities. Of course, situations like these are always a test of spirit, no matter how many times they unfold. There were moments during the process when I felt unsure. Whenever I called Mike Roman, who was coordinating everything, he always took my concerns seriously. He made sure that I was confident of success. We hired this company for a small move and wouldn't hesitate to call on them again for any type of move. They were courteous, on time, efficient and careful. The cost was beneath what they had quoted! I have made many moves, local and long-distance, over the years, and this was one of the top two experiences we have had. And I'm a tough customer at least in terms of high expectations.
