Ranen's Floors and Fence

I hired Robert Theard before Hurricane Ida to completely redo my stairs. I paid over half the cost in a down payment. After the hurricane, I had a difficult time getting in touch with him, but when I did, he promised to do the job. Well, he finally did the job, but it is so poorly done that I will have to have somebody come to repair all of his work. He did not clean his work space, promised a specific time frame for completion but took three times that amount of time, left black stains all over my white portion of the stairs, big screws sticking up and out of wood, messed up drywall, and stains on my newly painted walls and new tile floors. In addition, there are gaps between my stair risers. I have an unfinished project. I was so disgusted with trying to have him correct all the issues multiple times that I asked my father to come over and explain in detail what was wrong with his workmanship. He also tried to increase his price with a final invoice from the original contract I signed and paid the Dow payment on. I wish I could upload the pictures to show the horrible workmanship. I will be pursuing legal action to have the work done right.

Robert appeared friendly and knowledgeable at first. I paid the total amount then he began to dodge my phone calls and texts. There was always a family problem or he was out of town. It was extremely difficult to speak to anyone at Ranen s. The doors cost me $10,000 and a lot of stress. My tenant was inconvenienced although Robert had full access to the job site. He promised to show up for appointments and to at least keep me updated. The doors were paid for Feb 17, 2021 and the last text from Robert was April 2022. He continued to tell me that the problem is with the company.. He no longer speaks with me. I am a senior citizen and I will not be cheated. I will pursue this in court. The property has since been sold but this case will be open. With everything that a poor person has to deal with; this is just NOT fair. Broken trust.

Robert was hired about 2 years ago after Hurricane Zeta and my fence still has not been completed. He was given a deposit and then asked for another $2,500 to buy more supplies but still has not completed my fence. After giving him my $2,500, he tells me he will not be returning because he is taking a loss on this project. Please do not hire this scammer. His work ethics are horrible and he no longer answers my texts. I will have to take him to court to get my money back so that I can finally complete my fence.

Robert was very professional. He came out next day and gave me a quote. We stayed in contact over a few weeks while my replacement door was on order/shipping. He came out and installed once arrived and completed same day. Everything was smooth, efficient and affordable.

When I decided to have my gate changed I received 3 quotes. This one was the highest by $300 but he stated that he was available to begin immediately. He also stated that it would take one week to complete the job. Once I told him he had the job he showed up promptly to collect a 50 percent down payment. While he was there he removed my old gate and installed two of the three gate post. When he showed up I asked him was that 4x4 post as I requested and was quoted. He shook his head yes but I could look at them and tell that they weren't. So I asked him again, this time he said no it's 3x3s. Nobody can get 4x4, trump got the iron stuck in New York. I should have fired him then but I knew I was over building it with 4x4 iron and I was ready to it done. The iron he brought was also pretty thick so I let him proceed. After he got my deposit and installed the post 5 days went by before I seen him again. Keep in mind he quoted me one week for completion. Of course I had been calling and texting him for updates because I told him from the beginning that I didn't want my yard open as I had something in my backyard and my car was recently broken into. That was the reason I was willing to pay a premium to have it done ASAP. Needless to say it took 3 weeks for the gate to be completed. On days when he actually showed up he would come for a hour and then leave. He also built the fence to tall twice. The second time he actually tried to convince me that I would be ok with it. Even though, one side of the fence couldn't open all the way. It was so tall it was stopped by the gutter. I have had him come back out three times since it was completed and he still has yet to remedy my problems. First of all, the gate is rusting after only one month. I sent him pictures and he claims he can't see the rust. I wish I could post pictures in this review. Secondly, the reason it's rusting is because he half painted it and the two sides of the gate rub against each other when it closes. Finally, the anchors are already coming out of the brick wall. This is the exact reason I wanted 4x4 post. I thought really hard about doing a charge back and having him come take his gate away. In the end I decided to just fix the issues my self. I absolutely can not recommend this guy to anyone.

The work was tailored to specs. Robert engaged the job with a lot of pride. Detail is what was obviously important. Anyone would be pleased with his work. He is worth the investment. Professional in his interactions. I highly recommend him.

I hired this business to build a wrought-iron fence to match the section that had been completed years ago. The quality was amazing, and it was an exact match. The price was more than fair, too. I highly recommend Robert and the gang at Ranens Flooring and Fences by Design!

I called several contractors from Angie's list, Robert was the only one who came in the same day. He was very good with communication and the work quality was actually better than I had hoped for! Very reasonable pricing. Would definitely recommend!
