Unprofessional service and unskilled work. Had my deck soffit replaced and already deteriorated after a month. Edited for reply: My concern has never been whether the boards remain attached or structurally intact. This is too low of a standard anyways. Your response focuses exclusively on the structural integrity of the soffit while failing to address the central issue raised in my review. My concern is that the newly installed and painted exterior soffit developed significant mildew and staining within approximately one month of completion. I do not believe a reasonable customer would consider that an acceptable outcome after paying over $2,000 for professional exterior repair work. You now state that the upper deck should have been power washed, cleaned, and sealed. However, this requirement was never documented in either of the signed quotations, nor was I informed that the newly installed soffit would likely develop significant mildew within weeks if the deck above was not cleaned. Furthermore, I found it interesting that you are quick to assume the upper deck is the culprit because you did not perform any work on it. However, as I have now attached, the upper deck surface has been cleaned, primed, and repainted around the same time the soffit was replaced (a month before as well), just not with your company. Therefore, your denying of responsibility do not hold as the upper deck is in fact clean and repainted. I have dated photo evidence to show that as well. Accordingly, I do not believe the contractor’s characterization that the upper deck was “heavily soiled” causing the run off the staining of the soffit. The discoloration is highly likely the result of subpar workmanship for using the wrong material that is not supposed to be used on exterior deck and/or lack of proper priming and sealing. A professional contractor is expected not only to install materials securely, but also to use appropriate exterior-grade materials, preparation methods, primers, sealants, and coatings suitable for the existing conditions. If the surrounding conditions were expected to cause rapid failure of the finished appearance, I believe that should have been clearly disclosed before the work was performed, not after a complaint was made as an excuse to avoid responsibility. I made every effort to resolve this matter in good faith privately. Despite our earlier disagreement regarding the scope of work, I approved the additional quotation, paid both invoices in full promptly, and gave your company the opportunity to inspect the completed work after my concerns arose. Unfortunately, no meaningful remediation was offered, and responsibility has been consistently denied. I have therefore preserved all documentation and photographs and will allow the appropriate consumer protection agencies and the court to evaluate whether the workmanship and materials provided met the standard that a reasonable consumer should expect. I am not spending more time arguing with you over a google review. You before and after photo actually proves that the soffit board were inadequately prepared. You can paint over any soiled surface and it will look fine immediately afterwards but the paint will peel and fall off or get erosion from mildew within a short period of time because insufficient preparation. I also do not give permission for you to post the before and after picture on your business profile for advertisement. The photos were taken for the purpose of completing project rather than for public marketing. Please take it down immediately.
