Nathan and Dianne Allen conduct this review. Our addition consisted of a master bedroom and bath. We selected Raymond Key Commercial Contracting, LLC on 17 February 2022. The project was negatively impacted since the start date (18 April 2022). This contractor had no idea what he was up against. A three-month project took over seven months to complete. The pouring of the footing was delayed, because RKCC took over three weeks to lay the sewer line. RKCC created a safety hazard by not covering the trench dug for the sewer line. The trench remained open for approximately two weeks prior to being corrected. The project was further delayed because RKCC neglected to follow City of Chesapeake building codes resulting in several failed City of Chesapeake inspections, which caused more delays and work stoppage. RKCC did not monitor work progress and had no idea what was happening. Communication was nonexistent. Most of the subcontractors do poor and/or incomplete work. Do not waste your time or money with this contractor! To this date, I am fixing and finding all the screw-ups from RKCC. We have wasted more time and money correcting Raymond Key Commercial Contracting mistakes. Just found another one today, (3 September 2024). RKCC is not upfront and will have hidden fees and surprises. The quoted price did not include everything we wanted. The design process and statement of work was not explained. RKCC did a poor job throughout, workers are less knowledgeable, disrespectful, and have poor work ethics. Workers did not remove trash or clean up behind themselves. We DO NOT recommend Raymond Key Commercial Contracting, LLC, they are dishonest and do POOR and incomplete work. We are not pleased with the work!

We are very pleased with our new 3rd-floor bath addition, a bit of a challenge to meet our goals in the space available, but all obstacles were successfully dealt with. We would recommend this contractor.

Key construction replaced and extended my driveway in July of 2018. By August 2018 a hole had come in the driveway. I called Raymond every week and sometimes twice a week from August 2018 until March, 2019, He would say he was coming to check on it. He sent the installer to look at it. Raymond finally sent a guy to plug the hole. Well that lasted about a week. Now it is September 2019. I have called, emailed and texted him almost every week since March. The driveway looks good if you do not look closely. I think they used more sand than concrete. They splattered concrete on the brick walls of my house. I am a retired widowed African American. I wonder if that is the issue!

They are respectful of what you want and any thing you need taking care of

I could have given Raymond 5 stars for the quality of work and appearance of our sunroom addition his company built for our house. However, the whole process took 8 months because of unanticipated zoning delays and winter weather. Raymond submitted a very reasonable estimate but did not consider costs for obtaining a variance which I questioned several times before signing the contract. Although Raymond eventually won a very difficult case for us before the Zoning Board, the fees I finally payed him along with an ensuing inflation charge were something that was not my fault. Raymond would not discount the mistake in his initial estimate because he did not anticipate the zoning issue first off. I chose a rating of four stars for this reason. That being said, the final product was very well constructed, Raymond was flexible with a few changes I ask for during construction and we love how it turned out. The sunroom exceeded our expectations but the delayed and cost increases did not.

Prompted, fair / construction site very clean!

My remodeling project consisted of removing an existing brick den fireplace in a 55+ year old home and converting my three-season porch into the laundry room of my dreams. When I met with Raymond Key and explained my project, he surveyed the site with a practiced eye and said, â Yeah, we can do that. Not a problem.â He listened to me explain my vision for each space and fulfilled my expectations. His subcontractors were very personable, polite, answered my many questions, demonstrated their expertise in their work and cleaned up the job site each day. Raymond was in constant contact with me, coming to the job site daily during demo and the reconstruction of each space. He checked up on the work completed by each subcontractor. He lived up to each item on the contract. I was completely satisfied with the management of my job, the subcontractors, and felt that I got an exceptional value and quality of work for the price of the remodel.

There isn't a contractor of any size that can match their professionalism and quality. Their quotes are accurate and in our case were performed ahead of scheduled and at a fraction of the costs of other contractors. This is not a fly by night operation. We were constantly notified concerning project status and when they discovered a issue that could have prevented the project from going forward, crafted a work around that ultimately worked better than expected. From start to finish, Raymond and his team attend to the smallest of details to ensure your project is absolutely perfect. In our case, he had his painter paint an entire room so the new pain would match at no additional costs. Who does that? Raymond Key Contracting does. For future home repair and projects I have them on speed dial because they are the absolute best in quality and integrity. Give them a shot, you won't regret it.

I called this company looking for a solution to a leaky metal roof. They came right on time and were so nice.They got up on the roof and assessed the problem. They actually tried to save me a costly repair and recommended someone else (another company) who they thought could help. It turned out they steered me in the right direction and my problem was solved. They were also so honest when they told me that I really didn't need a total new roof. I am definitely keeping their number for any future projects!

It was a totally horrible experience. Would not recommend them or HomeAdvisor.

Raymond Key is the low overhead no-nonsense contractor who will get you the best deal on high quality flooring, cabinetry, appliance, carpeting, painting, heat pump, air conditioning and plumbing renovation/replacement work. He saved me tens of thousands of dollars compared to the other contractors who bid on my condo renovation. He had great suggestions for me when I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted.

I had been researching contractor companies for weeks for the remodel of my main bathroom. My vision and design was quite specific and many contractors were not able to understand what I’m looking for. I met with Raymond Key and His Project Manager, Shannon, and they had a can-do approach and were willing to work with me on the design. I have always been skeptical because of previous bad experiences with other contractors, however, Raymond and his team made me feel comfortable and a part of every stage of the design. End result is a fabulous, one-of-a-kind bathroom that I can enjoy for years to come. The team had great attention to detail, high level of expertise and wonderful CUSTOMER SERVICE. Forget the hype on TV. This guy is the real deal. They not only redid my bathroom they also refurbished 3 bedrooms installed a laundry room and built an enclosed porch for me. At about 20K less than their competition. I am very happy with the work. One word of advice is to make sure you have a detailed plan to avoid changes after the work is completed. These guys are very quick professional and the customer service was spot on. Raymond was fantastic with his ideas and was very honest and straightforward with us.

Raymond Key and company ...I am part way thru my 22x22 room addition and have to say they have done a WONDERFUL job thus far. I choose them because Raymond offered good suggestions to my initial requests making this addition much more enjoyable. He insists on keeping the work area clean and organized with no interference to our daily life. The work is done quickly and he is always looking out for our best interest. He buys quality materials and has quality pros doing the work. He keeps me informed on all aspects of this build. I would highly recommend him for any job.

Where to begin with this review. Here we go. I hired Raymond Key and his company to remodel my bathroom. It was a small job and I had not had any luck finding anyone to do the job. He came over the day after I contacted him. Replied no job too small. Had a quote back to me the very next day. His team came in and did a fabulous job. Everyday things were cleaned up and left in an orderly fashion. Raymond was in constant contact throughout this process and would drop by to check in on things and to be sure I was pleased with the work being done. In the mist of my remodeling, there was an issue with a contractor at my parents home. Raymond immediately, within a couple of hours, personally went to my parents home to check things out and to give me his advice. What was thought to be a small inconvenience has turned out to be a huge, HUGE, issue. Raymond and his team took over. The job is pressing forward. The job has entailed new joists throughout 1000 square foot area, support beam repairs, new floors, new duct work for the entire home, crawl space repair, kitchen cabinets removed/replaced, new counter tops for kitchen, plumbing, demolition of flooring to the ground and rebuilt, drywall repair, framing repairs. In a nut shell, he is saving my parent's home. We have been treated with respect and there have been no delays. His team is always there when scheduled and things are getting done. I have lived through three major renovations in the past and this has never been my experience before. I can assure you when hiring this company, you will hear from the owner on a daily basis with updates. You will have quality work done and you will be quoted the fairest of prices. This is how we should all conduct our business. My only negative comment is that I had known of this business prior to repairing my parents home. It would have saved me so much heartache, time, and money. I welcome any calls if you would like to hear more of my experience with Raymond and his team. I was impressed with Raymond key commercial contracting due to the professionalism and timely response. Raymond key set me up with the services I needed with excellent pricing and really good advice. I was almost upcharged by other companies until I met with him. Definitely recommend to others looking to renovate.

I had a major remodel done to my fireplace and Raymond Key (the owner) was at my home for the entire job. He was there every day until the project was finished. Raymond and his team were very professional and trustworthy. When you are having such a major remodel done you want people you can trust in your home when you are not there. Well, that is exactly what I got with Raymond Key contracting. I wish I could add the before and after. Amazing quality work. His assistants also were very helpful and provided me with more options. Raymond was very helpful with coming up with the best plan of action. As a General Contractor, he can provide you with anything that you need for your home repairs. They do small and large projects. Raymond Key and his team is my contractor forever in Chesapeake! I forgot to say his prices were very fair for the quality of work.

He added nearly 1000 sq feet to my home. Very happy with the quality work.
