on time did what was ask

A cleaning lady I hired noticed a water leak just below the base molding in my guest bathroom. After a plumber repaired my leak, I went on-line to fine a competent and fair dry wall installer. I looked at five different local dry wall specialists and decided to ask Reliable Home Maintenance to give me an estimate. Vern Criss came out the same evening, told me the entire job would be $400.00, which would include mold abatement and full restoration of my bathroom wall. We set up a time for him to come and start the process and he was on time and got to work right away. He came back three days to complete the work (had to allow the plaster to properly dry) and completed the work on the fourth day. My bathroom wall looks BETTER than it did before the mess and Vern charged me exactly what he said he would. He is friendly, polite, and very competent. I will definitely call this business in the future for any similar work. I am highly satisfied with this top-notch work!

We will always call Vern first

My wife and I hired Vern for several around the home projects including, drywall, exterior siding, molding and trim, cook top vent install, title step work and spackeling of the rest room ceiling. Wile i think personally he is a fantastic guy, some of his work was a sloppy, poorly done, still isn't finished or failed the next day. -Before we talk about the bad, lets talk about the good. The things that went well, Good at hanging drywall, and decent at finishing it, he's great at trim and molding, did good on texturing the ceiling in the rest room and did very good on siding out back. -Things I'm very disappointed with. The title work was never finished and still is the same as before, the vent line for the cook top fell down into the crawl space the next day, the drywall repair's in living room were not sanded hardly at all and half way done at best. He missed many spots and didn't sand 75% of it at all. Wile im not bothered by it my wife was, as with many contractors vern shows up late and leaves early at times. Kinda hard to get a good days work in if you only work 4-5 hours tops. It extended the time the house was a dusty mess. Long story short. I just don't feel like i got what i paid for, he charged us 1700+ dollars for a few projects and 3 out of the 6 are still uncompleted and aren't much better than before hiring him. I guess for a 50.00 per hour contractor i was expecting a little more. When I politely bought up these issues ( have it all on iPhone text message) with vern his reply was he screwed down the cook top counter for free. Wile we do appreciate him taking 20 min to screw down a 4' long counter top it sadly doesn't make up for the 1700 we spent and i would have gladly paid him for his work. -UPDATE 11/1/17 Its been a couple months now that vern said he would be back to finish some of the projects but he has not been seen or heard of. Would we invite vern back to our home? Sadly no.. Being a nice guy gets you a long ways with us but sadly it doesn't get the job done.

Vern works hard to do the job right. We hired him to do several odd jobs, and one of those was to install a porch swing that hung from the ceiling of our porch. The swing is 5 feet long, and I didn't realize this but it wasn't long enough to go into 2 wood beams so he had to build one. This required taking the soffit down. It was a bigger project that I imagined, but I was confident in his work. When it was done, we were very happy with how secure the swing was and the upgraded parts he used to ensure that the swing was extremely secure. Quality work! The other projects were all done well also, fixing drywall in a closet that was ripped out by closet shelving that collapsed.
