I hired this company to put in a generator after seeing their commercials on TV, and seeing all the high reviews online. I can say that my experience has been horrible. First off, the permitting process took months, just to get the approval to install the generator. After the install, city permitting workers came out countless times sighting issues that needed to be resolved that seemingly didn’t get resolved because they’d get flagged again for the same issues. The biggest being they installed the generator too close to the natural gas line, which caused them to move the generator over about 18 inches and needing to install a giant junction box on the outside wall of my house. Not a great look. During the install and clearing permits, it’s almost impossible to get ahold of anyone to get a status update. I’d call and leave messages, email – repeatedly – before I’d finally get someone to reply. Fast forward a year, I discovered they installed one of the junction boxes incorrectly to my pool heater, causing it to fill up with water… so another repair. Now after the first year they hit you with a $600 per year contract to continue to monitor the generator for issues. Even after I signed it, I still get an email asking me to sign up every couple of weeks.. I’ve responded a dozen times telling them I’ve signed up for the monitoring program and to stop emailing me. Now the icing on the cake. I’m paying $600 a year for them to 'monitor' for problems. Today we lost power and the generator didn’t turn on. Looked at my mobile app, and it shows the cell signal used to monitor the generator isn’t working. I open the generator and the control panel that runs the entire system is blank and not working. Obviously a major problem… and isn’t that why I’m paying $600 a year for Reliable to monitor for problems and fix them before they cause an issue? This monitoring program is a scam. If they were actually monitoring the system they would've seen that my generator didn't exercise on Monday as scheduled, and that I've been offline over a week! Calling to ask that question just got me on the line with some low level customer service person, who can’t do anything but set an appointment a week from now. If you’re going to install a generator, look elsewhere.

Very very very high estimate that cost $60 . Over $800 to replace 2 fans, one ceiling and one exhaust fan with electricity already there. I just got an estimate for $200. Beware of this company. Donald Parker

Through the sales process they painted a beautiful picture. I dont believe the lowest price is always the best deal. I price compared two companies, Reliable was a bit more money but I liked the salesman and I believed the picture he painted. So much for "reliable", they are nothing of the sort. Horrible customer service and zero support after the sale. Run to another company as there are several others in the area to chose from.
Response from Reliable Power Systems

Communication is almost non existence. I have left several messages with no response 3 to 5 days later. Still waiting. God forbid I should need a repair. A 10 year warranty does me no good if you can't contact anyone? Just Saying? Hope your not in a hurry?

Literally has to be one of the worst places to do business. i put a deposit down to install a whole home generator and after 5-6 weeks still didn't have a permit, permit number or any clue where i was in the process. It seems Reliable Power Systems hired an outside firm to do their permitting, but that outside firm is just as unreliable - - pun intended. I was repeated told someone would reach out to me with info, but didn't hear anything for weeks after multiple emails/txt to the salesperson. Only when i threatened to cancel my order and ask for my money back, did i get a return phone call - - a phone call that was littered with inaccurate information, of course. After 6 weeks of aggravation, I demanded my money back. And, what does Reliable Power Systems do? Take 30% of my deposit and not return any of my calls on 'why' they would take 30% of my deposit when they literally did nothing for me. Fine business practices you have there.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Here’s my story….Moved to Florida 3 years ago from the Northeast. Needed a generator so I narrowed it down to 2 venders from Google reviews...Reliable Power Systems and APS. Prices came in about the same, sales people were both likable, it was a coin toss who to use. I chose poorly. It took 8 months to get my generator installed (COVID shortages, not Reliable’s fault). Reliable has a nice on-line system where you can check the status of your install through the whole process. The installation went smoothly - so no problems there (although, they did leave a bit of a mess in my garage, made some holes in my drywall that they wouldn't patch etc. but no big deal). After the install, I immediately sign up for the yearly maintenance agreement with them. Fast forward 8 months later and here’s where my problems start. I have 10 guests visiting me and staying at my house (of course this is when I have problems) and one morning the electric in the kitchen, the hot water heater, the a/c and pool pumps aren't working. The circuit breakers appear all fine and everything else in the house is working. I notice blinking lights on the generator module and so I call Reliable. I explain what’s going on, I tell them I have 10 house guests. Reliable tells me they can’t make it out to my house for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS. I’m like, how is that possible? It’s March, it’s not even hurricane season. There hasn't been any storms, it’s literally a normal time of year. I tell them I have a maintenance contract with them. They don’t care. TWO WEEKS. I ask to speak to a manager. Two hours later the manager calls me back, says he can fit me in the schedule in 6 days. SIX DAYS (which is 2 days after my guests will have left). Now, what the Reliable manager doesn't know is that in the two hours time between my first call to Reliable and his return call to me I have called my electrician in a panic. I have 10 house guests I can’t cook for, who came to Florida and now can’t use the pool or hot tub, and it’s getting warm in the house. My electrician says “Reliable is the worst, call APS”. So, I call APS. Now, I am not APS’s customer. I did NOT just spend $40,000 with them 8 months prior to purchase and install a generator. In fact, I’m the one who asked for a quote and then didn't even use them. I am no one to them. What does APS tell me? “We’ll be out in an hour”. An hour later they arrive, 15 mins after that they have re-booted my module and suggest that if it happens again that they replace it. APS’s technician had come to my house, fixed the issue and left before I even got a return phone call from Reliable’s manager telling me that he “could fit me in his schedule in 6 days”. I explained to the manager that I had called his competition and that they had already come out and fixed it. The manager told me that “Reliable has a lot of more important customers that take priority over you, like hospitals etc and we always service them first.” Ok, Hospitals are important. But six days in a non-emergency time of year to get a 15 minute repair? How long of a wait will it be during hurricane season? And no customer likes to be told that they basically aren't important—especially after just spending $40,000. I tell the manager this, and that I’m going to leave them a bad review. His reply “We have lots of good reviews, one bad review isn’t going to hurt us”. Hmmm. Are you getting a clear picture of what kind of company Reliable Power Systems is? Do yourself a service and hire Assurance Power Systems from the get go. I now have my maintenance contact with APS and they have continued to provide me with excellent and timely service.

Reliable was quick to send a technician to search for a gas leak. The tech, Caesar, was professional and knowledgeable. The tiny leak was found after two appointments and was fixed immediately. I called Reliable because they had installed a full house generator for us last year and was happy with the company.

Received a notification call prior to actual appt from the tech. Tech was friendly & explained every step what he was going to do as this was a maintenance check of Our generator. He notified me as to when he had to shut my power off for a physical change over for the generator to kick in see how it would run. Upon completion, he came back back to my door, he checked about power coming back on & making sure that my A/C came back as well. The A/C took longer time even after my doing w/the thermastat, so the tech went into his Van to "do paperwork". Came back for a recheck on A/C in my house as it finally kicked in. He was kind enough to do that doublecheck/my request. I gave him a bottle of water for being out in the heat all that time & being kind for the recheck There are not many companies out there w/professional & courteous mannered Techs like this 1, Unfortunately I cannot remember his name? I never got an "E-mail Receipt Copy" from the Company/the Tech's response back to me for maintenance visit of the breakdown of what he did specifically?

Replaced defective starter at no charge under warranty. Diagnosed problem, repaired and tested it within 1 hour. Serviceman was great. Have had the generator over 3 years and it was a competitive price, installed on time and serviced annually by Reliable's own people. 6 neighbors on my block have also bought units from them and love the service and care they get.
