Very good customer service, personable and knowledgeable at their craft! I was able to not only speak in depth on what I needed and sent pictures so they had an idea of what the job entailed. Joe came to my home and patched a small spot on my counter. He also gave me some good tips on granite cleaners and a name of a website which sells polishing and cleaning products.

Clean Tile Floor & Floor Grout

Joe did a fantastic job power cleaning my tile floors and coloring the grout. I picked the wrong color for the grout and he brought it to my attention that it didn't look very good. He called Kim and she drove to my house to deliver a color that would work better. It turned out great. Joe and Kim go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied with the work. I highly recommend their service.

Refinish Wood Flooring

Great service, great results and great price! Joe and Kim are committed to providing total customer satisfaction. My travertine floors turned out to be a real challenge. I had several coatings of Quick Shine on them, which is very hard to remove. Donâ t ever use it. But Joe got the job done with no complaints. Now my floors have a wonderful, natural shine -- reflective like glass.

Remedy Surface Care was wonderful to work with. Kim was pleasant but professional on the phone, and Joe did excellent work restoring our limestone counter to the original luster. He explained the process and cleaned everything up before leaving. I will definitely have them back when my countertops need resealing.

Replace or Repair Grout

Thank you for working on a grout issue in a remodel involving 2 showers. The Grout Color Sealing which was applied made all the difference! No longer did I have uneven grey grout which looked dirty but instead have a nice even color throughout. This is what I expected when the tile was installed and so pleased to have found Remedy Surface Care. I definitely recommend due to quality of work, attention to detail, and their customer service is excellent. Thank you again Kim and Conner

It's the second time we hired Xavier & All Surface Experts. We had some discoloration on the cultured marble in our bathroom. Xavier and his crew buffed & resurfaced the surface to look as good as new. They also caulked an area in our shower, which needed doing, without being asked to. Xavier is a perfectionist and it shows in his work.

We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
