Rick Cole Custom Stone Work

We hired Rick and his crew to replace a set of stone/concrete steps in our yard. Rick was very nice, and the price he quoted seemed fair. But his crew is lacking in the **pride in work** area. When breaking up the old steps, they apparently did not haul away all the old rocks and concrete pieces, but left some **hidden** in tall grass in the yard, rather than tossing it into a wheelbarrow and hauling it away. Rick specified in the contract that the steps would each be 7 inches tall. While the top 2 steps were built to spec, another one is only about 3+ inches high, and the next one down was originally about 9 inches high. The day they built the steps, we had to leave before they had finished, so everything was complete by the time we got back home. We had to call him to come back out to address the issue of the step height discrepancy--he apparently did not check the work very well when they built the steps. He did send a guy out, who increased the height of the bottom step to bring the 9 inches one **down** but no one addressed the 3 steps. That guy who **fixed** the bottom step, dumped the excess mortar in our yard, which we realized only later. Rick did send someone out to take the dried mortar pile away. But again, we had to call him about that. The 3 step is still short, and we still have rock/concrete debris in the yard that is just too small for us to pick up. We tried calling him again to see about fixing the too-short step, but, despite Rick's claim that he wanted us to be happy with the work, he has not returned our calls on that matter. Overall, the steps are pretty, and they do technically function. But they are not completely up to the specs that Rick outlined in the contract, so we are not totally satisfied. I wish I could have fixed the original steps ourselves so that I know it would be done right, but that sort of work is out of my wheelhouse. I had read reviews before hiring him and had high hopes. But we are pretty disappointed in the whole experience.

We were on vacation when he came to start project. I would have appreciated a call to confirm a start date. I had to get a friend to pay him that day for supplies. We did have to ask him to come back and redo a couple of areas, but we are very pleased with his work. Our sidewalk is beautiful.

Rick Cole & Crew built a stone bulkhead behind the old bulkhead that collapsed at Lake Palestine, plus resolved the erosion/grainage issue. Excellent work and we recommend Rick Cole.

He did two projects - the first was a stone patio laid in morter and it is great - so far - time will tell how well it lasts. He was very reasonable, came right away, did what he said he would do, etc. He was to come back to spray sealer so we scheduled a brick (leftover from our house) outdoor sink - that is not so great - we will have to do considerable work to be able to put on the doors. He was supposed to bring a drawing and give me a price - his worker showed up to do the work with neither - that is when I should have sent him home after he sprayed the patio sealer. I was gone when he left and my husband paid him - more than we had expected comparing with the price of the patio. I have contacted him since, he responded that he would be out in 3 days to "fix" it. He has never shown up despite texts to him since then. No answers to the most recent texts or phone calls.

I am very pleased with the work that was performed at my home. Rick and his crew were very professional, and friendly.The brick and stone work that was done, was done by my specifications and performed beyond my expectations. This was was my first experience in hiring a contractor to do work at my home, and I am glad that I hired this team. I will use them again in my next quest. Thank you.

The brick work was very professionally done. I would highly recommend Rick to anyone who needs brick work.

He did a good job on a retaining wall but I also had him fill in some mortar around the house. This area looks very messy with excess mortar sticking out. I am no expert but I do not think it should look so messy. I just hope it stays in.

Very nice contractor. I had a walkway to be repaired. Called him on a Wednesday. Sent pictures of the job. Bid turnkey on Thursday. Job completed on a Friday afternoon! Very pleased with the workmanship and especially happy he could do the job when I could be present.

I sent him a picture of the job to be completed and he told me a price, and completed the job the next day. Very nice man and the workmanship was worth it.
