We hired this contractor trying to help a local business and trusted Home Advisor. They were initially late when coming out to give me a quote, they called so I overlooked that. They required a $2000 deposit which with a receipt we gave them for supplies. He promised the work would be done in two days. He took my check and I did not see or hear from him for two days, my wife finally was able to reach him by phone. He was supposed to arrive on 11/18/19 at 7:00am to begin the roof replacement. He arrived, only after my wife constantly calling at 11:20am and worked for 5 hours, just long enough to tear the roof off the back side of the home, remove the vents and lay down felt. He left without notice nor telling us when he was returning. He did leave behind his ladder and other roofing materials he had brought. Since 11/18/19 we have not heard from him, the phone numbers he gave us are of no help at this point. We found him along with his partner on social media and have tried to contact him that way to no avail. He took our money and ran with it, I guess what he left behind was supposed to cover our loss and fix our roof. Half of our roof is now exposed to the elements, and we are going with a big box store to complete this job and pursuing legal matters with this contractor. Very disappointed in Home Advisor for allowing someone like this to advertise on their site and have a bogus first review, which we can only assume Daniel X. is his partner whos name happens to be Daniel. We will not use Home Advisor any further and I recommend to anyone reading this, do your due diligence before hiring and handing out deposits to contractors. I thought we did enough, but we should have done more to prevent such a costly loss.
