Rivers Rain Gutters

"Well, I have to thank a customer of ours for telling me about this review otherwise I would not have known. Dan V had also posted a negative review with the BBB, in which I responded shortly after his post. It's very unfortunate that Dan was so upset and I take this very seriously as I want all of our customers to be satisfied. The reason Dan was so upset has to do with the garage section of his home. The garage is settling so much that to get the water to drain, the gutter had to come down considerably. Picture a structure that is leaning to the right and we have to get the water to drain to the left. It didn't look good. We pitch the gutter every 4 feet using a 4 foot level and we just break the plane, this way you have a nice straight line and the water flows out to the downspout. Most of the time the gutter stays up high, looks good and still drains but sometimes the structure doesn't cooperate. I tried to explain this to him but he wasn't having it. To bring the gutter up on Dan's garage would have resulted in the gutter holding water and potentially causing damage with excessive ice build up etc. We did go back to double check our work and we tried to come up with a solution. The job did take longer than expected. We install year round and installed for Dan in the middle of winter - during one of those weeks when the temperature is very cold and every morning we wake up with a dusting of snow. I do remember on one occasion we simply couldn't get the truck up Dan's steep driveway. We have a cut- off temperature of 15 degrees but more importantly, working in the winter can be very dangerous and extra time should be taken for safety. Dan has a very big home - 3 stories in the back. I was there personally on the last day of the install to make sure my guys were safe as there was several precarious set ups with snow and ice. As far as the debris left behind, Dan did give us a small bag of things he found during one of our warmer winter weeks when the snow had melted and please understand, I would never use the snow as an excuse but it is a fact that removing old steel gutters can be a messy proposition. I personally walked around the house several times looking for anything that may have dropped but sometimes things can get lost in the snow. I told Dan that we do our best but it would be a good idea to take a walk around after the snow melts - most people understand but it was upsetting to me that he had found anything. The whole thing was very regrettable and I apologize to Dan for this unfortunate event."
