SAVE YOUR MONEY!! GO ELSEWHERE!! This company was supposed to come out Friday Dec.13th 2024 to figure out why my tankless Water Heater was not supplying hot water. They showed up on time, That is The ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY. After the Technician showed up I told him I had changed Inlet water screen, ignitor and flame rods and had flushed the system. He called Rinnai Tech Support, checked a few things I had already pretty much ruled out and after about 1 1/2 hours, in his own words .... Ran diagnostic on Rinnai tankless heater with Rinnai proline. Came to conclusion that burner needs replaced or pulled and cleaned .... He proceeded to tell me it would be $230 for today and visit and he was leaving....I asked him well that is all your going to do and he replied well I could pull the burner and clean it but Rinnai stated it would be 8 hr job at $120 and hour or he could put me in a NEW tankless for $4,000..... I thought he was kidding at first but realized he was not and he was leaving and I had NO HOT Water and a wife that was pissed!!! We had been without hot water for days!!!!! I THOUGHT Calling a So Called Professional Plumber was what I needed to do as to not void any warranty...BIG MISTAKE.... After stewing about NO HOT water for the weekend and possibly having to find a way to get it fixed, I looked to YouTube for videos on cleaning burners on Rinnai tankless system...I found a video from a Professional Technician . { remove link } After watching a 7 1/2 minute video on taking burner out and cleaning it had to take out the burner and clean it, BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE HOT WATER!!! It took me about an hour to take burner out, clean it, blow it out and put everything back together!! Guess what??? I have Hot Water Now because I fixed it, Not this so called Professional Company!!! Save Your Money And Do NOT Call This Company!!!! I got charged $230 For These Thieves To Tell Me My Hot Water Heater Was Not Working!! LITERALLY!!!! CALL ANYONE ELSE BUT THESE GUYS!!! If you Need any Help On your Tankless Water Heater Call Me and I will help you FIX your water heater and charge you half what they charged!! Pitiful Customer Service, Pitiful Customer Support!!!! Go Elsewhere!!!!
Response from Company:
Thank you Byron for your feedback. I understand and appreciate that being without hot water can be uncomfortable and stressful. And, I'm sorry we were not able to resolve it before the weekend. You had already done several things which definitely helped the process move forward, after you got stuck on what to do next and reached out to us. Tankless water heaters have many working parts and require proper diagnosis. Our policy is to call the Rinnai Pro Network and have a service tech walk us through the diagnostics and tests. He originally had told us that the gas valve was bad, and gave us a part number to order that. My tech didn't feel like that was the case, so he took it upon himself to pull apart the gas line inside the unit to prove that the valve was allowing gas to flow. So we called the tech support back, and received a diagnosis that the heat exchanger was needing to be cleaned. Their requirement to do this properly is to completely remove the heat exchanger to clean, and blow out any debris. Then when putting it back together it requires a gasket that would have to be ordered. (approximately a 3-4hr job, but not 8 hrs) So there was nothing we could do properly that day. I know it was Friday and that would require coming back after the part came in on Monday, and I am sorry for that. Upon inspection of the installation of the water heater we found that the vents were too close together, and the gas line wasn't properly sized for the unit. It was also 7 years old. We have found through experience that these models were made without an air screen to prevent the issue with debris in the heat exchanger. And typically after this "cleaning" of the heat exchanger, there will still be more problems down the line. So with all of this knowledge and experience, we recommended a new unit. A typical change out of and existing tankless usually runs less that $3000. But, due to the improper installation of the current one, some modifications were needed which ran it closer to a new install price of around $4000 (which includes the Rinnai 199k BTU condensing tankless). After giving the options of returning the following week with the gasket and spending several hours or just replacing the 7 yr old tankless, you said that you could do it yourself. Which I can appreciate, as I like to do repairs around the house myself as well. But our time to diagnose the issue after you had come to a wall in your attempts to repair, took time and has value in my opinion. I am glad that you were able to get it going, and hope there aren't any issues with it from not completely removing the exchanger and replacing the gasket. At Riverside Plumbing, we take pride in our customer service and doing repairs the right way. And I would urge anyone needing repairs done with a tankless to call a professional to properly diagnose and properly repair. And thank you again Byron for your feedback, so we can be sure to better articulate our position in the future and possibly mitigate these concerns moving forward!

Came right over to give me the bid. Two other companies did not show up or call back. Arrived on time to do the job and finished on time. Did a great job and cleaned up after themselves. Will use again in future for pluming for gas or water.

Tech arrived as scheduled. Was very courteous and after initial assessment of issues he explained plan of correction. Repairs were completed quickly and at a fair price. I was very pleased and would use them again and tell my friends and neighbors to do the same.

Found riverside plumbing on Angie?s list and went off reviews. We are new to area and had no idea who was trustworthy and priced well. Riverside plumbing hit all the marks for us we are very happy with the job they did and their pricing was unbeatable. We got one other quote prior to riverside plumbing and riverside?s pricing was significantly lower for the same product and job. Will hire again in future.

The owner Derrick is articulate and doesn't try to hard-sell you. I found him to be forthcoming in discussing the pros and cons of tankless versus tank-style water heaters. I ended up buying a new tank water heater and his guys installed it professionally. They also replaced my worn-out pressure regulator valve for a fair price in a very cramped crawl space. They did such good work that I went ahead and let them install a new kitchen faucet that I had planned to replace myself. It turned out to be complicated so I'm glad I let them do the work and feel like the price I paid was more than fair. I now consider Riverside Plumbing to be my new plumber.
