I have never written a review online but I feel compelled to write this because I am VERY irritated at the work of Romero Construction. I hired David Romero to do the following: remove/scrape popcorn texture from ceilings, tape, float, and skim coat and apply a light, indiscernible texture. Mr. Romero said he had a job delayed and could start and finish right away. Mr. Romero underbid everyone and I read his reviews and hired him. He was prompt, even early, but the quality of his work is absolutely terrible. While he removed most of the popcorn, he just coated over some of it. Additionally, he, his father, and his son (Kevin M.) worked as a team, and rather than letting the drywall compound dry completely, they rushed to paint on it assuring me it would be fine. Subsequently, it is now peeling and falling off EVERYWHERE. They fixed some areas by rubbing caulking on them which now is a visible mess. They caulked the corners and edges and which I am fine with but did not smooth it, so it is also very ugly. They decided not to remove two light fixtures in the kitchen and put joint compound around them; unprofessional and ugly. They painted and textured a corner of tile in my shower. When I did a walkthrough with Mr. Romero, he was indifferent and seemed to think all of these things were small matters. I am furious. Their idea of clean-up was a quick once over but I now have ceiling paint on my walls, on my front door, on window screens, on a thermostat, and a variety of other places. Mr. Romero has offered to return to fix these things but I have ZERO confidence that he will return and do a professional job at fixing any of this. I now need to find someone to clean up the mess he made of my ceilings and home. (Bonus: They broke a glass fixture on a ceiling fan and he said, Sorry but refused to replace it.) I do not recommend this company. I am annoyed enough to file a formal complaint with BBB and the TX Attorney General Office (Consumer Complaint Office). I took several bids before embarking on this project, and Mr. Romero was comparable and his reviews were decent and good; his actual work, though, is beyond disappointing.
