If you’re reading this, most likely you need a roof. And if you’re like us, you’ve delayed and deferred the decision to the point where you are perhaps in desperate need of one. And along with that revelation also came the sinking feeling that we were about to get fleeced. Or at a minimum dealing with someone up-selling us until we’re blue in the face. The prospect of a new roof was both terrifying financially and emotionally because it is a major purchase and there are many questions and unknowns. Enter Brian Sherwin of RoofSmith New England. After speaking just ten minutes with the good gentleman, he put many of our fears at ease. His approach was very relaxed and respectful. He clearly explained our options and slow walked us through the entire process. He answered all our questions directly and stood behind the products our job would require with a warranty. And he was upfront and transparent about costs, scheduling and logistics and the intangibles that might arise once the roof was pulled off - and their costs. It became self evident that I was dealing with a professional and that gave me the confidence to move forward with him. A dumpster and a few pallets of materials arrived on a Thursday. The next morning at 8 AM the crew showed up and began working nonstop until dusk. They took precautions to protect the house from falling debris with tarps. And then began tearing the old roof off. It was a marvel to watch how gracefully they moved about 30 feet up. Almost as if they were tap dancing on the roof. We had concerns about a few areas and asked for special flashing. Brian covered that additional cost and of a few other items that weren’t in the contract. The crew worked tirelessly, barely taking breaks and they completed the entire job in a day, minus a few odds and ends. That included replacing nearly 30 sheets of plywood and scouring the grounds with strong magnets to pick up every nail and piece of debris. The next morning the dumpster was gone. That afternoon I stood outside looking at a new roof. You couldn’t tell anyone had been there, they left without a trace. The whole experience for us was positive and we’re extremely satisfied with the craftsmanship and attention to detail Brian & Co. delivered.
