We hired Royal Concrete for a driveway and garage floor replacement prior to selling our house. The house is about 30 years old and the driveway and garage floor had settled and cracked to the point where we needed to replace both. Shortly after the work was completed, we put our house on the market and a potential buyer hired a structural engineering firm to inspect the house. The Engineering firm noted a concern that the new garage floor lacked expansion joints around the perimeter of the garage and that the floor was pinned to the foundation. When I asked Armando at Royal Concrete about that, he stated that this was the way they always did garage floors for existing houses (older than 10 years) and never had any issues. However, I asked a couple of other companies that have done a lot of work in Louisville and they stated that it was common practice to include expansion joints and have the floor float independently from the foundation. I explained to Armando that the buyers would not purchase the home unless the garage floor was replaced with the expansion joints. While he was willing to redo the garage floor at a discount, he was not willing to replace floor for free, which I felt would have been appropriate under the circumstances. I ended up using a different company to redo the garage floor, mainly because I wanted to make sure it was done right and to avoid any further issues with potential buyers. I also, frankly, did not want to give Royal Concrete any more money, discount or not. During the replacement of the garage floor, the new company did find that Royal Concrete had not properly placed forms in a section of the garage and concrete was poured directly under a portion of the foundation wall. That mistake could have caused issues had the ground continued to settle or expand, as is common in the area. So, for the sake of the new home owners, I'm glad we went with a different company. I did email Armando with all of this information and let him know that I was going to put an honest review on Home Advisor. I asked one last time whether he was willing to do anything to make this right in terms of contributing something towards the replacement of the floor or refunding a portion of the profit he made on the garage floor. I received no response.

Very efficient, and did exactly what we wanted. A good working crew also. Very happy with the end result and quality of work.

Armando was very responsive and I worked with Oscar to add a walkway from our front yard to the back yard, along with an extension on our existing porch. Oscar was patient with my questions and even some last minute reservations regarding the plan. He spent time providing recommendations and since I am not an expert on concrete, it was wonderful to have someone provide advice. After the forms were removed, Oscar and his crew came by to clean up and we have been using the porch regularly since! We will be contacting them when we are ready to replace our driveway that is scaling. Thank you, Oscar and Armando for your great work!

The head contractor was very good about getting back to us and answering our questions quickly. There was a mix up between our job and another he was quoting , and they showed up at our house about a week and a half before we expected them. I was glad the job was done early and was done quickly, but it did cause a little problem with getting our a/c unit moved. The workers were very respectful and as I said they got the job done quickly. However I m not sure if they almost forgot to remove their forms, but someone showed up quickly after I emailed them about it. They did haul off old cement, but I was left with a pile of debris (mostly old railroad ties) that I still have to figure out what to do with. That may be normal for these projects, but homeowners should be aware they might have stuff that needs hauled away after job is complete.

Good experience workers, they keep work space clean. Good with advice.

Armando was very professional, from this project estimation process to keeping me informed of the schedule. Installers were courteous, professional and very efficient. Quality of work was excellent.

All aspects of the job including schedule, installation,time to complete the job,quality of work and cost for project were excellent.

They left the yard a mess. Only one of the crew spoke passable English. They failed to seal the concrete, and other little things.

Armando (owner?) was professional and accommodating in the bidding phase. On construction day his crew hit a snag at a previous job and were hours late without letting me know they would be late. That meant they prepped on the original day (Friday) and poured the next day (Saturday). The crew was skilled and responsive. Overall, there were a few difficulties, but we easily worked through them and the final product was good.

Overall very satisfied with the project. Armando was very helpful and easy to work with. The crew was professional.
