I hired Scott the end of June to install 3 exterior and 9 interior doors, as well as a couple other small projects - trim, attic vent cover. He said he was going on vacation for a week but then he could do the work the next week. Instead it took until Aug 22 for the bulk of the work to be done. (To be fair I was on vacation two weeks of that time) He came one or two days a week and left a mess each time. He gave me a price but didn't make it clear that the price didn't include caulking the doors, didn't include hauling off the doors, didn't include hauling off the debris from putting a new door in concrete block wall, ...One door needed to be cut down and he cut the wrong door. When he replaced the door he had miscut he hung a hollow core door instead of the solid core door I had provided him (which he had miscut). I tried to work out an agreement for the difference in value for that and gave him two weeks to do the following but he has not come back. Now I will need to hire another handyman to finish/fix what he didn't: (1) a strike plate on the front door deadbolt (2) fill where a whole piece was broken out of a new door frame (3) door that hits when it shuts (4) door that won't stay open (5) window above door framed so that there is no place I can't caulk and paint - now there is a well at the top of the door on the inside and a big gap underneath on the outside (6) install glass on side and above outside doors (7) replace attic vent cover. Scott is a nice person but it was still an experience I hope no one else need go through.
