SLO Dryer Vent Cleaning

I've used SLO Dryer Vent Cleaning twice to clean out my dryer vent and boost fan. Sure it's a little pricey (~$300 the first time, $215 the second time), but it seems important and like it would be a major pain to do myself. This last time I called, them, though, during the cleaning the technician discovered that my vent booster fan had a broken blade which was causing a loud rattle and lots of vibrations. He offered to replace it that day with what he said was a more reliable fan for $783 (in addition to the $215 they were charging for vent cleaning, so $998 total). It seemed expensive, but I stupidly agreed because I needed a new fan and didn't know how hard the job would be. All told it took the tech maybe 15 minutes to swap the new fan for the old one. The problem for me is that it turns out the replacement fan they used, the Fan Tech DB4 XL *only costs about $200* at amazon and supplyhouse.com as of writing! This business put a roughly *$580 upcharge* on the fan for 15 minutes of installation work when they were already on premises and had already diagnosed the fan as part of another paid service. I know that there's a premium to be paid for having professional installation, and I know there's a convenience cost associated with being able to have the needed part installed that same day, but an extra $580 for 15 minutes of work when you're already on site? To me, this feels much less like shelling out for an emergency plumber, and much more like when the car dealership's service department finds some needed repair work to do when you've just gone in for an oil change. I *might* use this business again to clean the dryer vents, but I'd steer clear of any other services offered.

Worth the price ($200) to have it done right the first time.

Gary, the owner, was responsive and professional. After they had cleaned the dryer and had left, when I started the dryer there was a problem with the venting system. Gary responded rapidly and cheerfully and fixed the problem within a day.

The owner came out to clean my dryer vent. While he was under my house he smelled gas. He recommended I call the gas company. The gas company came out and found that I had a gas leak. The potential damage/tragedy that might have happened if this had not been discovered is very scary. I am so grateful for the technician and the great service he provided.
