This team has fantastic people and provides excellent service. Their communications with me were immediate and informative. Stephan is obviously a very experienced plumber and he was insightful in diagnosing the cause of my sewer line problem. His second, Brandon, is similarly skilled and made first contact to snake and camera my system. Planning from the first visit led to a successful and efficient repair job during the second visit which occurred shortly after the first visit. It was a very good timeframe for a plumber that seems to be in high demand. The final product was exactly what I expected being a construction/plumbing/ electrical hobbist all my life. Just a little to old to be dancing on a ladder and tossing 12 foot cast iron piping around myself. Making my payment by Quickbooks was easy and the total bill was very appropriate for the time and materials involved in the job. This team will forever be in my contact list for future plumbing needs. Thanks again Stephan and Brandon!

The SMJ fellows arrived as arranged to install a dishwasher that Home Depot dumped in my house claiming they could not do the plumbing work to install it. The old dishwasher was connected by copper pipe, whereas the way they connect new units doesn't involve copper and soldering. It was original to the 1985 house, which should allow me to shout out to the Rite Aid Company who manufactured the old one that lasted 35 years. The HD guys claimed they weren't licensed to do monkey with copper pipe and that I had to procure a plumber to do it. The SMJ fellows arrived and completed the work, although they may have thought twice about leaving the old one in the front yard. HD will do the haul away.

They came promptly, saw the problem and fixed it without wasting any time. They were very professional. I was very happy.

Came out (after hours) the Saturday night before Christmas and was knowledgeable, courteous and did it right! So appreciative for his willingness to drive from Pearl River to Mandeville on a weekend to help with our kitchen plumbing emergency (especially with family arriving the next day for Christmas holidays)!

People who read this review be the judge. In preparation for installation of improved counter tops by a third party, I contacted SMJ about 1 week before the countertop people were to install on Dec 3. The explanation of work took place 2 days before the Thanksgiving weekend and the quote was offered during the week after Thanksgiving. SMJ was to disconnect an overmount kitchen sink, remove and set it aside, to disconnect a gas cook top remove and set it aside, to disconnect a bathroom sink that was unitized with cultured marble, and disconnect 2 sinks in the master bathroom that were similarly unitized with cultured marble. I asked for them to arrive early AM 12-3 so the counter top installers could do their job on same day. Two men arrived at 7:45 and took 1 hour to complete the disconnections. After the disconnect the SMJ on-site fellow mentioned that the shut off valves were in poor condition and I took that opportunity to ask them to install 8 new shut off ball valves upon the reinstallation of all sinks. On the flip side I asked SMJ to reconnect the kitchen sink, reconnect the gas cook top, reconnect the 3 under mounted bathroom sinks, and install new faucets (purchased by me and waiting on site). I asked that they arrive early AM on 12-5. The same 2 men arrived at 8:00 and took 3 hours to complete. The quote for all of the work was $1850. I have no complaints with the quality of the work, or the courtesy and professionalism of SMJ staff. They did not add an extra cost item for the new shut off valves. If you have ever seen the new ball valves they are much simpler looking than what you might have under your sinks (call it advancement in the state of the practice) If I break down this quote: 8 hours of work divided into $1850 = $231. Divided into 2 fellows on site is $115 an hour per fellow. For a plumber that is a bit high. I'm used to about $80 per hour for these services. Now what I am trying to rationalize is: was I paying a premium for these services because I was up against a deadline for the counter top installers to arrive at 10:00 on 12-3? Or, was I paying a premium because SMJ was being responsive to the arrival times I was asking for to clear the way for the counter top installs and then on the flip side to come back and reconnect to make the house functional. Chicken and egg. The work SMJ did was fine, no complaints about it, they disconnected and reconnected on request. However, I think I paid a significant premium, but for what I am not sure. That is why this review is so ambiguous.

I contacted them in the late evening when I discovered my 17 year old Hot water heater wasn't working. They were here promptly at 8:00 AM as they said they would be. Worked clean and efficiently. Great job. I highly recommend SMJ Plumbing Repair. I will use them again when my other unit goes out.

I needed a hot water heater replaced, so I searched Home Advisor for a plumber. Steve with SMJ told me he did some work for my neighbor, so I asked her about her experience. She had nothing but praises for SMJ. I called Steve on a Sunday, and he had two very nice, knowledgable and personable men come out to install a new water heater on Monday. I appreciated the fast service, fair price, great work and kindness of SMJ. I will definitely be using SMJ from now on ... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SMJ Plumbing Repair.
