I would highly recommend S&S! Jim was incredibly responsive, the work he did was excellent (including the cleanup) and reasonably priced. My basement looks great.

We hired James in good faith because he was referred to us by a co-worker. He has a reputation of repairing homes so we thought he would do a good job. He was on time and very responsive but the work was not the best. We were getting new porcelain tile placed and Jim did not want to remove the old floor because it would have been more work and he told us it would make it more difficult to lay the new tile. Since we don't know very much about flooring we reluctantly agreed. He did give us a $600 discount because he did not take up the old tile. Jim laid the new tile and told us that he ran out of grout and asked us if we could caulk the outside of the floor in place of grout. Once the floor was dried we inspected the floor and realized it was not grouted evenly or around the edges. We also discovered that only half the floor under our fridge and stove were tiled and our kitchen closet door was not able to open because of the new tile being placed on the old tile. In addition to that some of the tile was not cut evenly and we could still see the old tile under the new. We called him and he came back out the next day to repair all of the mistakes. The floor looks a lot better but it left a bad taste in our mouth that someone would do substandard work and act like it was acceptable. Jim is a good guy but we would not recommend.

Jim is a good man. He quoted us a price that was fair better than anyone else. We had a small issue with the trim but he came back the next morning to replace the issue no questions asked. I would work with him and his company again.

Jim did a great job removing a fairly new carpet I had in my living room and installed it in two of my guest bedrooms upstairs. Very professional work ethic!! Would definitely recommend Jim!

Very professional. Excellent job and timely.

He seems to be a good guy and was on time and very personable. The job was an easy rectangular room. It seemed to be coming along nicely, but when I looked at it more closely I noticed that he hadn't allowed the proper spacing against the walls. I addressed it with him and he assured me that I would have 3/8 all around. Instead of using spacers as the instructions state, he floors right up to the wall and then chisels the end before attaching the trim. Having done a laminate floor myself, I knew I needed this expansion area. He finished the room and it appeared to be okay so I paid him. The floor itself looked good, hard to screw up a 15 x 17 rectangle. I noticed some issues with the baseboard so I pulled it, and found that he hadn't created the 3/8 space against the wall around the full perimeter. I ended up cutting additional space. Luckily I am handy. Finish work was substandard. The baseboard wasn't scraped of old caulk making it difficult snug to the wall. I pulled some of it to scrape and reattach. During the project, he asked me if I could caulk the joint between the wall and top of baseboard. I told him no problem. When I went to pull the baseboard, it had this thin glue-like (urethane maybe) that was very goopy and sticky. It made a mess. Undercuts of the door way were about an 1/8" too high so it didn't look finished. I will need to try to caulk to make it look finished. Lastly, when they removed the baseboards, they gouged the face. I don't necessarily have an issue with this, but they didn't repair them when finished. Didn't have the caulk or finishing nails to finish the job.

Jim is everything you could want in a contractor: courteous, prompt, professional and efficient. he completed my job quickly and with no mess. there were a couple of little issues we noticed that needed a bit more work and he came back immediately to fix them.

Jim was professional, courteous and easy to hire, I had to reschedule and he had no problem what so ever. I will highly recommend him to my friends and family.

Jim recently completed two jobs at our home ( linoleum and carpeting) and both rooms look fabulous! It is hard to find an honest, hard working contractor these days, but Jim is just that. He was always on time, was friendly and professional and stayed true to his quote. I have recommended him to others and would not hesitate to hire him again in the future! Thanks Jim!

Jim is a detailed oriented installer. I recently hired him to install Vinyl in our kitchen and he did an excellent job in a reasonable budget. Jim was patient with my various queries.

Jim removed old carpeting and installed a runner on our staircase. The price he quoted was extremely reasonable for the amount of work he put in. It came out beautifully and Jim worked very efficiently, as well as cleaning up and disposing of old carpet. So nice to have someone who shows up when they say they will and is very professional to deal with. I highly recommend him and would use him again for any flooring work. If I could give him more than a 5.0 rating I would!

Jim responded promptly to request, offered to pick up flooring several days early to avoid predicted snowstorm, did an excellent job and did it quickly. I highly recommend him.

James was beyond great!!! I am so pleased with the Job he did for me and I would recommend him a thousand times over. He came on time and completed the bath and kitchen in the same day. Other companies told me it would take 2 days at least because of the size of kitchen and bathroom. The price was past reasonable and great for my budget. I was happy to pay him. Thanks again for the awesome job!!!!!!!!!!
