I wanted to have the fan for a Radon mitigation system installed in the attic area above my garage, but knew that access from my basement to the garage would require routing of the mitigation pipe above a dropped ceiling in the finished portion of my basement. Only two of the four companies that I'd contacted were willing to quote a garage attic fan installation, and SWAT Environmental's quoted cost was lower than that of their competitor. As a consequence, I suggested that SWAT send a representative to review my installation to ensure that the cost that they'd quoted for a garage attic fan installation wouldn't need to be adjusted. SWAT's representative, Jayme, arrived at my home at the scheduled time, reviewed the installation and agreed that a garage attic fan installation could be accomplished for the quoted price, but indicated that I'd have to call the office to schedule an appointment because his schedule (and those of other installers) was already booked. I called and was able to schedule an appointment for Jayme to perform an installation a couple of weeks later. Despite a later than expected arrival, Jayme was able to complete the majority of the installation (pipe routing, wiring and fan installation) before he had to leave. He returned to complete the installation (cover and seal the sump pump pit) about a week later when a second appointment could be scheduled. I initiated the post-mitigation Radon level test with the kit that had been left with me a week after the mitigation installation was completed and ran the test for five days. The report from the test lab indicated that the radon level in the "living space" area of my basement had dropped from a high reading of 8 pCi/L (in pre-mitigation tests) to 1.2 pCi/L and this post-mitigation value was confirmed by comparison with a Radon monitor that I'd purchased through amazon.com that indicated a "long-term average" of 1.24 pCi/L for the same five days. It's apparent that the Radon mitigation effort in my home was successful. I'd have no concerns about recommending SWAT Environmental to others for Radon mitigation.

Everyone was great from the people on the phone down to the installer. Very helpful had a quote in my email and scheduled in a matter of minutes . The installer called about 30 minutes before arriving. When installer arrived he explained everything he was going to do in detail and explained basically what Radon was all about. He did a great job, left everything the way he found it and left a test kit and explained how to use it.

Choosing SWAT was the worst decision I made when choosing a company for radon remediation. During the first visit, the service technician did not bring enough tools to finish the job, so I had to schedule another day to take off work to be home. He also did not arrive during the second day he promised to complete the install, even after repeated times trying to contact him, so I was forced to take a third day off work in order for him to finish. I live in a house built on a slab, SWAT is not willing to live up to their warranty guarantee that the system installed will mitigate the amount of radon in my home. I have been tracking the levels since before and after the install, and they have only went up with time. SWAT is not willing to diagnose the root case of the issue in their customers homes, and when questioned, they insist that you pay more money for enhancements in the system, which they also will not guarantee will bring the level down to a healthy level. Nor will they provide evidence that their suggested enhancements will work. Their customer service representatives are rude, and also not willing to verify that the system is working properly. They are also not familiar with the language in their warranty. For consumers who live on a slab, when you contract with SWAT, you are not getting an estimate for remediation with the original install, you are getting an estimate for them to come out, drill a hole in the side of your foundation and install a fan that will push air through PVC pipe. If this does not work to bring your levels down, they will continue to charge you hundreds to thousands of dollars for service fees, fan upgrades, and additional systems on your home without diagnosing the root cause of the issue. The most important part for me, is that they would not agree to mitigate the levels to a healthy level at a set cost. I highly recommend consumers STAY AWAY from them and look for a mitigation service that is willing to diagnose the root cause of the issue at a set cost. SWAT has no expert on their team to diagnose the root cause of the issue for radon or is not willing to dispatch him/her when it needs to be done.

They were prompt. Did not try to sell me anything extra. In my case the levels were not extreme and the basic fan is doing the job very well.
