Sam the Concrete Man

I had a lot of estimates. Sam&s was at the Garden Show and he is on your list. I thought I made the right choice. I did not. They came on time, broke up the old concrete, framed it in. Good so far! The concrete truck came and they poured it in a timely way. then everything went south. The most important part was awful. It was to be a brush finish with a sealant applied. the finish is very rough with a lot if tiny holes. The sealant is sprayed on and it got on my siding and it will not come off. I didnt see this until the next day as I could not get into the backyard. The sealant was a hit and miss. Mostly miss. It rained the next day it seemed to disappear and is spotty. I waited a week before I called them to make sure it was dry. I called my sales rep and he didnt come but he sent Todd the supervisor. He was rude and did not see anything wrong. He said it had to cure for a year. Told me I was expecting a different outcome. I told to leave, I think he was not the least bit interested in the subject. It is rough and difficult to walk on. I saw job with the brush finish. it was perfect. Mine doesnt even come close. I would never use them again. I called the sales rep again. Ask him to come and look at it, told him I was going to give them a bad review on HomeAdvisor. He did not return my call or come and look. This not a happy ending.

As most would agree, contractors are not the most reliable people in the world. But Chavis, with Sam the Concrete Man proved that hypothesis wrong! After waiting months for the first driveway company we called to show up, our emails and phone calls were finally returned with excuse after excuse. Ultimately we were told they went out of business! So, you can imagine my delight when Chavis showed up promptly on the day he told us he'd be there with a full crew! Not only were they polite and punctual, but they were extremely conscientious and meticulous. Obviously, they know what they are doing and they went about their work in a professional manner. My husband is an engineer, so he is very detail-oriented and "picky." Even he had nothing but great things to say about them. Our driveway looks amazing, as does our front porch--which they expanded in the process of adding an extra step. They also added another step in our garage. When you contract with a company to do concrete work, you are definitely at their mercy--as can be noted by the number of sinking and cracking driveways in our neighborhood. From the quality of the concrete to the prep and finishing work, Chavis and his crew did a top-notch job. In addition, they cleaned up after themselves each day and finished in a timely manner. Chavis even returned to power--wash the street! If you need a new driveway, sidewalk, patio or any other concrete work, I would highly recommend Sam the Concrete Man -- and particularly Chavis and his crew. He is already scheduled to replace our neighbor's driveway next month!

We wanted a large stamped patio, and Mick, the estimator/project manager, had color charts and a sheet with stamp patterns for us to view at our initial meeting. The very detailed proposal was typed, printed and delivered to us on the spot, allowing us to ask questions and get immediate clarification. After several contractors presented proposals, we chose Sam the Concrete Man, and couldn't be happier! Our project was completed the week it was scheduled, and looks amazing! Mick and his crew were the best! We will be having them replace our driveway next year.

Large driveway removed and replaced. David and his crew were great to work with. Extremely satisfied with the results !! Would (and have) recommend Sam the Concrete Man without hesitation.

This is the 2nd project David has completed for me. The first was a stamped walkway/front porch at my vacation home in Denver and the second was a stamped patio at my home in Columbus. They both turned out great. I've worked with several different contractors over the years as I have multiple properties and I can tell you, David and his guys and the company that backs him are right up there with the best of the best. I can't begin to tell you how appreciative my wife and I are.

After a false start due to crew availability, they were able to subcontract the work and get the job done. Work was performed in a satisfactory manner and they did a reasonable job with cleanup. Finished driveway looks good. The concrete still needs to be sealed which is scheduled to be done in October.

The workers are a great bunch of guys. They clean up after themselves everyday before they leave. Due to the weather, the patio couldn't be completed as scheduled. I am not disappointed as the patio could have been ruined if the guys had went ahead and kept to the schedule. I give the employees 5 stars.

Work was done as promised,, workers were respectful, efficient porch floor is satisfactory. We will see what happens over time but from the way it was installed I will be surprised if it will crack......
