Hello, I am Sam the Handy Man, I am a Licensed Building Contractor in the State of Minnesota and fully insured up to a million dollars per state requirements. I started this as a handyman business and quickly moved up into larger jobs and now focus mostly on remodels basements bathrooms interior remodels but I can handle anything exterior and exterior on residential homes. Being licensed allows me to hire subcontractors for plumbing and electrical if needed. But I can work on existing electrical and existing plumbing. I try to work 5 to 6 days a week, I offer free quotes. My typical hours run between 8 and 9, to 3 to 4. For most jobs I charge by the hour, material costs are on the client, and I have a general contract everybody signs.

I hired Sam the Handyman based on his positive reviews, but my experience was a nightmare. I paid him $3,950, expecting quality work, but what I got was a sloppy, incomplete job. He only did one uneven coat of paint, leaving the old color visible, then refused to fix it unless I paid more. He never communicated delays, I always had to follow up, only to hear excuse after excuse. He acted like there was no deadline, despite agreeing to one upfront. In the end, I had to hire someone else to fix his mistakes. Completely unprofessional and not worth the money. Avoid at all costs.

Can we please clone this young man?! So absolutely over the moon on everything he has done for us to include his professionalism, price, punctuality, quality of his work - we can not thank him enough for getting the job done in not only a timely manner but, with integrity. Sam built custom window well covers for two oversized wells we have. They turned out better than I could have imagined. He designed, built, and installed them in just a week. I love the added safety and protection to my house. Sam is great to work with and we'll rehire him for future projects, for sure!

Re-hired Sam for a second round of tasks! We hired Sam the Handyman to replace some old light fixtures and to have entry door threshold trim replaced. Sam was excellent at the tasks, thorough, neat, polite, communicative, and everything looks and works great (he even went to the bib-box store to bring a couple of choices on the threshold trim! We purchased the lights and had them here for him to install) We will absolutely hire Sam for future household repairs or maintenance, including he is fairly priced. The personal service of a small business coming into your home vs a big company’s employee is a whole different thing. We recommend Sam - at least ask him, he’ll be honest to let you know if it’s something he can’t do. Cheers.

Sam advised as to what kind of sconce fixtures would work with the electrical setup of (and modernize) the top40-yr old original style that are in my condo. I purchased the sconces and, even though having to do a little bit of custom carpentry on the existing wall plate, Sam installed and tested these new sconces and they change the whole feel of the entry and hallway. In addition, Sam stopped at a well-known home improvement store and purchased a couple of different sizes of door threshold trim for the entry door and the one he chose is perfect. Excellent workmanship, thorough setup and cleanup, we’re all set. Sam responds quickly and politely. Will use Sam the Handyman again!

Sam contacted me the very next morning after I posted on Angi - by phone instead of texting. Even though I am tech savvy, you can get a sense of the pro right away by having a conversation about your project - old school even though Sam is just a few years in the business. He made time to travel to my condo bldg this same day to check out the task(s), and though the fixtures needing repair came with this building 39 years ago, he was patient, efficient and determined to try all steps needed to actually repair rather than having to run out and replace everything (I would have been satisfied and paid with either). Sam was successful in actually fully repairing the two items to complete usability, yay! We got a sense of satisfaction to know we customers have a fixture that is up to Code, and Sam to realize his ethic of being persistent and careful often pays off. He worked beyond an hour and my home and I are happy and safe because of these repairs. Made arrangements to hire Sam for a couple of other small projects in next couple of weeks, and I will pass his name and number along to any neighbors here who may like a nice and competent handyman!

Sam was a great pro for my job! He helped move a very heavy piano (digital mini grand) and assembled it for me. He helped break down boxes and hauled them to the dumpster. He even cleaned the piano surface so it was spotless. Sam was timely, thorough, and friendly. I would definitely hire again if needed.
