Schafer Builders took our $2500, deposit but never provided a proposal, nor have they responded to our numerous emails and text. We even stopped into the office three different times requesting a meeting or a call; however, they never responded. As an older couple, we feel the company took advantage of us. We were working with Avery.

I would like start by saying I have used Schafer Brothers before and it was a good experience overall. This time we used them for a basement remodel and a new stairway to the basement. The basement remodel was good also, but this review is for the stairway. First, the person that installed the new treads and risers never sanded the treads, then used one coat of stain and poly. The result was blotchy and unprotected. When I swept the stairs hair and dust would get stuck. Since we have animals, that is an issue. The communication with the office and the project lead to come back to fix it was beyond horrible. Finally the project lead came back. He sanded the treads, applied a couple of coats of stain, and we agreed to at least 3 coats of poly to protect the stairs. The project lead said he used a new product to get the job done quicker, although the time not accessing the stairs was not an issue, and it dried white in places. We used a dark grey/black stain so the white from the dried poly was very obvious. There is also stain on the risers and mop boards now so it looks like a child that can not stay in the lines completed this work. The project lead was nice and worked on some walls that he did not like the final look on while he waited for things to dry, but he then dripped grey paint on the white trim in places. I have called and texted a couple times to have them come look and figure out how to fix this. The first time I was told they would arrive about 3:30 pm, but I got a text around 5 pm that his day went south and he would come by Saturday. Then he was sick Saturday and he would call next week. I had to text him 2 weeks later and he said he would come by. Nobody has been by or called again to set anything up. Schafer Brothers is not cheap, but when they do the job correctly they are worth it. They charged between $15-$20K for these stairs and the result I have right now is not worth what I paid. I do not recommend using them for stairs.

They are so professional, you ll never have a horror story with SBR like you hear on TV. They are all kind, pleasant, respectful, and thorough in all the jobs at our house. When problems come up on a job they brainstorm with each other to come up with the best solution on how to fix the issue at hand. The workers are some of the nicest people we have met and they are a joy to have them in our house when they are working on a project. Once the project starts they arrive daily until it is complete! Just this week they finished putting on a new deck on our house. Brian and Nate did a wonderful job! I enjoyed having them at my house every day for the last two weeks! As the person in charge, Brian was great at coming up with solutions for all of the problems he ran into! Brian was a pleasure to work with again, because last fall he completely remodeled our basement. Thanks Brian for everything you do… and the sample of your great chili! I have only the highest praise for the entire experience of working with Schafer Brothers Remodeling on our addition. Everything from communication to the workmanship and workers themselves ... I don't think I can express how well the finished product looks and functions. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with their work. I loved how they embraced the fact they knew changes to plans would come along, and how they worked with us to do things the right way. While there might be some folks who could claim they could quote the job for a cheaper price, I highly doubt they could do it at the level of quality, professionalism, and done the right way. It is very apparent Schafer Brothers are proud of their work, and they should be. I cannot imagine anyone who would say they were disappointed with their experience with Schafer Brothers.

Was time to update our master bath to make it current and modern. Bill was thorough with the initial meeting in our home, where he went through the job, making great suggestions to make our bathroom meet our needs. When we met with Mary to do selections, she gave us such great ideas with her expertise, which was really appreciated making the room really pop. Project began with a meeting with project manager, who explained how the job would start off. The team was courteous, efficient, and kept the job site clean and organized. Overall very satisfied with the Schafer team, and will certainly use them on our next remodeling project.

Water damage was evident in our sunroom, and we called Schafer Brothers for their help. They were very thorough in their investigation of the problem, believing that it was damage from an ice dam but ran an extensive water test to be sure. Much work was done to ensure no ice dams in the future, the repairs inside the sunroom required new drywall in some areas, and repainting of the room. They finished the work before their estimation (!), the work was flawlessly done, and their crews were friendly, personable, and professional. We couldn't be happier. They went over every detail of the project with us before it started to ensure that we knew what to expect and when. I wish we had the names of all of their individual professionals, but those that we do know--Mitch, Brad, and Brendon--are exceptional, as were their dry wall team. The job site was kept tidy, and when they left for the last time, it was spotless. :) We'll definitely use them again when we have another home project!

We first worked with Schafer when they replaced our windows about 10 years ago. Several year back, we hired Schafer to remodel our master bathroom, and last year they remodeled our kitchen. We've also have them for several painting projects. Everyone we worked with was very professional and very knowledgeable. They listened to what we wanted, and worked with us to make it happen. I would highly recommend this company.

We hired Schafer brothers because of their reputation, the fact that they have a showroom and a full time decorator on staff to facilitate choices, and we were impressed with Joe Schafer s level of knowledge and no nonsense attitude. That decision was ratified by their excellent work and attention to detail. What has made us a repeat customer, however, was how they treated us when it really mattered. During the ordering process some how or another the wrong vanities were ordered and we signed off on the order. It was only after the vanities were installed that my wife and I noticed the mistake. After discussing things with us and reviewing the facts, Joe and his brother decided to correct the problem at no charge to us. We are convinced that with any other company we would have had to accept the vanities that were installed, pay for new ones, or go to court. The rework was done flawlessly and we are very happy with the result. We have since used Schafer Brothers for a smaller project and plan to use them again in the future. These folks are the best and worth every cent you pay.

They have done multiple jobs for me over the last few years, and do a great job. They explain everything and, best of all, they listen to your wants and needs!

The work was done professionally and in a timely fashion. The contractor is easy to work with and has helpful ideas as to what needs to be done to please the customer. I am more than happy with the results. I would recommend Schafer s to anyone wanting a quality build.
