When I asked for a referral from my next-door neighbor, he was reluctant to give Scott name by saying **Scott is, to say the least, sloppy with his work and rough around the edges so, make sure you have a solid contract**. Boy! I should have listened to my neighbor. I hired Scott to finish our basement in January 2020. He left the job in the middle of the day (11:35 am) on March 18th using Covid restrictions as an excuse to go start another job when only last installment of $1,500 left on the contract. When he left, he was working on additional work in our basement which was going to be +$1,000. I have ALL the text messages between us, signed contract, and cashed checks saved as my evidence. It took me 6 months to find another contractor to finish his leftover mess. The new company charged me an additional $4,800. Hence, I am out $2,300 in deficit. I would not recommend Scott at all. Do yourself a HUGE favor and pay 10-20% more to hire a professional and save yourself a big headache. You would be glad you did.

"100% complete lies from the biggest scam artist I ever worked for in 34 years. The man had the nerve to add handwritten changes to my contract. I did not leave over covid and he knows this. I left because he owes me $1100.Almost half of that is materials for extra work that I went out of my way picked out and paid for out of my pocket. And that is without any markup or delivery fees. Not one inspection failed so that is a complete lie. All inspections except for the final were done while I was still working there. Not one complaint ever from either him or his wife. He is now slandering my business and making up completely false lies not only about me but his."

The project started well; Scott seemed to understand what we wanted for our basement. He executed the general vision. He was flexible enough to accommodate some additional design requests (Simple Stuff, nothing extraordinary), that were not part of the original contract. But, as the project started to begin even after all of the materials provided by us, the project did not complete on time and we are left with a big mess that needs to be fixed with additional costs. There were constant delays and constant follow-ups on when our project would be completed. But, all we hear is FALSE PROMISES OR SOME EXCUSES. The CONTRACT was paid in full but unfortunately not completed with FAILED INSPECTION WHICH is CODE RELATED MANDATED BY TOWNSHIP. Touch-ups, a good number of them, were not done and appointments to complete them were not fulfilled. Paint drops and spackle, drywall dust, were left on my new floor for me to clean which took me over 5 hours. Left an electrical box including electrical wires on the panel and some of the connections were not hooked up to the breaker and were just hanging out of the wall. Tiled around a switch in such a way that no switch plate would cover the hole he left. Tiles on the floor and walls were not level or flush to adjacent ones. Kept us hanging for over 2.5 months when the contract stated that it will be done in one month, instead, he ended up picking other peoples projects in parallel and started to do their work and did not border to complete our project on time. Low attention to detail, poor planning, and poor communication. In short, very unprofessional, unethical, poor communication, and does not know how to talk to his customers, and likes to cut corners just to get PAID. PLEASE DO NOT HIRE HIM AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO DO ANY OF OUR PROJECTS.

"I don't know who this person is nor have I done any work in Bethlehem in about 4 years. I don't recognize the name. This review should be removed as it's a fraudulent review. Thank you."

The project started well; Scott seemed to understand what we wanted for our basement. He executed the general vision. He was flexible enough to accommodate some additional design requests, that were not part of the original contract, and he was compensated for them. There were some delays caused by floor availability, not at all related to his work. Once the floor was available I was hoping that the rest of the work would be completed quickly as expressed by him, however, that was not the case. Twenty-three days after the was floor installed the project is still not finished, despite multiple promises that it would. The work was paid in full but unfortunately not completed. Touch ups, a good number of them, were not done and appointments to complete them were not fulfilled. Additional work requested to finish the stairs, that he agreed to perform and we to compensate, was not done. Paint drops and spackle were left on my new floor for me to clean. Low attention to detail, poor planning and poor communication. Texts not answer and calls not returned. I started this project with a great deal of faith in Scott and his work and did not want this to be the final outcome.

"I'm not sure how you can say the work wasn't completed in full. I did ever touch up you had marked within reason. Touching up spots that no one would ever notice actually wrecks the paint job as it doesn't blend well when using gloss paint. So yes not all were addressed due to that. All major blemishes were taken care of the steps never got finishes in the laminate because the payment was left for it. Though you can hardly say the steps weren't finished as they were painted and stained as per contract using colors you picked. You forgot to mention the columns I trimmed at at cost of material only or the tile accent wall priced at $4 sq ft,the gran..."

Bathroom remodel. Started the job, didn't complete it. Jerked me around for 2 months saying he was coming back to finish it, gave several excuses about a bad back, kids basketball games, etc. before finally saying he wasn't going to finish the job and I should hire someone else. Left me with a no shower enclosure, a broken sink faucet, and a window that wouldn't open . Left an electrical box just hanging out of the wall, and tiled around a switch in such a way that no switch plate would cover the hole he left. Tiles on floor and walls were not level or flush to adjacent ones. If you're looking for a quality job, hire someone else.
Response from Sarau Home Improvements - Home Facebook
"The truth behind this job was that the homeowner was responsible for supplying and ordering shower glass which he waited 2 months after everything else was completed. I was on a very large 2600 square feet basement and could only come on a weekend to finish. I made attempts to come on 2 separate weekends. Both of which he wasn't available. After that, I did say he should find someone else to install the glass as that was all remaining along with some touch-ups. He still owed me $500 on the contract for this which is more than enough to install a glass enclosure that takes less then 2 hours to install. I didn't replace any sink faucet so no idea how he"

Scott remodeled our bathroom for us and at first everything was going fine but he broke something during the remodel and from that point on, it turned into a nightmare. The shower leaks from the door opening area and against the wall, because he either didn't install it correctly or ordered the wrong size. Please do not hire this man because if something goes wrong, it will be your fault (he wont take responsibility) and you will be unhappy with the final product
Response from Sarau Home Improvements - Home Facebook
"I and my helper did, in fact, break one side of the shower enclosure. We cleaned everything up and I had to return to my office to contact the manufacturer to have another piece sent out priority. They did have to wait an additional week which was my fault, but it was an accident. The enclosure is installed properly but is missing the rubber seals for the door. They contacted me about that and a problem with ceiling paint. I came out and met with both of them and explained the issues. The door leaking can be fixed by them contacting the company they bought the glass from and request those missing parts. If they get them, I would be more then happy to come to install."

We are very pleased with the work Scott performed, he completed our basement on time and the quality of the work was great. The project included a bathroom, playroom , office and TV den. We shall be remodeling a second floor room and look forward to working with him again.

Contracted Scott to remodel the bathroom off of our master bedroom. He replaced the shower, cabinet, countertop, sink, light fixtures and toilet. He also laid a new tile floor with new baseboards.and painted the bathroom. Scott completed the project in a timely manner, at a fair price. Myself and my wife were extremely satisfied with the results and we hope to use Scott again to remodel our other upstairs bathroom. .

We are waiting for the city to approve the plans for the deck right now. In the meantime Scott has done other work in the house. He has replaced the kitchen floor and several cabinets, taken out built in cook top and wall oven, and replaced the vanity top in the bathroom. None of these jobs was straightforward or easy. He has a great "let's get it done right" attitude. And is professional and personable. I will have him back for any future projects that may be needed.
