Got fleeced on the third job we hired the owner for, having put trust in him after good experience with first two jobs. However, if you are looking for a plumber who charges about $400 per hour, then Scott's Pluming may be a good choice. The last job we had was a kitchen faucet installation. We simply called Scott’s Plumbing and just asked them to get it done. We did not hide the fact that we didn't get other quotes. We ended up being billed for $800 for a straightforward install job. (Not yet paid. I stopped the check while I explore my legal options.) This included a line item of $396.12 for 2 angle stops, which as a standard practice is normally be included as part of faucet installation. (Apparently, this item was correctly included in the previous two job. As it happens, the previous two jobs were also installation of faucets, in bathrooms. Job-1: Installation of 1 faucet, total cost with tax = $269.52, Job-2: Installation of 3 faucets, total cost with tax = $626.89. Clearly, the angle stops labor was correctly included as part of the faucet installation on those two jobs, and not charged as a separate line item.) The new job probably took about 2 hours (and was similar in terms of time/effort as the previous two jobs), but was charged about 3 times of what would be a reasonable price. Bottom-line, we will obviously not hire Scott's in the future. We also learned a our lesson, and will not put our trust blindly in another business, and will likely verify that the cost of a job is reasonable each quote in the future. (Note: looking at a couple of other negative reviews on other websites, the response from the business is likely going to be along the lines of “we quoted upfront…” etc., which ignores the fact that they pretty much dipped into our wallet when we weren't looking.

"Mr. Rastogi, We gave you an estimate in writing and spent 6 hours plus materials to do work at your house and you were happy with the price and the work when we were done. Later your check came back NSF. Who got fleeced?"

Scott arrived exactly on time and was very knowledgeable. He fixed the leak in my kitchen drain line quickly and efficiently. My only problem is their rates are based on a flat rate "book " charge. The job took less than 3 hours and the charge was over $600. I was informed of the cost prior to the start of work, so I'm not complaining I was over charged, rather the book pricing is very high. In summary, the work was good but the price was very high.
Response from Scott’s Plumbing, LLC
"Hi [Member Name Removed], I enjoyed working for you and I'm glad you were happy with the quality of our work. As far as the pricing out of our flat rate book, most of the plumbing companies have switched to that pricing and we are all very competitive. it Is much more fair in the [Member Information Removed] that it is based on an average time per task, that [Member Information Removed] the pricing is more stable, you don't pay more by paying by the hour for a slow plumber. Thank you for choosing Scott's Plumbing."

Everything went fine. The service man was prompt, professional, and friendly. He told us up front even though we knew there was a leak, that diagnosis of the problem would cost $195.00. Of course we didn't know it was the cartridge that had gone bad so he did diagnose that. He went out for a while to local hardware plumbing distributors but did not find the part. Upon return, he said we could save a little money and order the part ourselves. I got a phone number for Moen parts and never could get beyond "1" for English, "2" for etc., etc. and finally gave up. Scott's Plumbing agreed to order the part and said it would take a couple of days. That was Aug. 14. We were told it would probably arrive on the 16th and they can replace the part on the 17th. We then got a call that they might not make it out on Friday, and we might have to wait until the following Monday. We told them that the defective Moen part was leaking more water now, and they said they would make it out on Friday. The serviceman arrived on Friday and installed the part. It didn't take that much time to install the part. I'm back using my kitchen sink, and everything works perfectly. My only hangup was the final price. I about choked when I was given the final invoice of $593.00. By the way, I found the Moen cartridge on line at Amazon, Ebay, Menard, and Lowes....not that we would have been able to install it ourselves, but it was priced less than $20.

They came out, charged me $1695.00 in advance to unclog my line with a high pressure jetter. Claimed the clog was clear. Less then 24 hrs later, I had to call them again as the line was clogged again, or still. Before they would work on my clogged line, a second time, they charged me $1795.00. Do the math. Approximately $ 800/hr is what they charge. In my opinion, they damaged my main line with the jetter on their first visit ( suggested by the employee From Scott's plumbing that did the work) but refused to warranty the work on the second visit claiming my plumbing was improperly installed, therefore they could not warranty their work.

Response from Scott’s Plumbing, LLC
"Mrs [Member Name Removed], We love hearing reviews from our customers, so we know what they like or dislike about our companies service. In your review, you didn't mention the cost of the parts, the time it took to get the parts, the drive time to get to your job, and the time to do the work. Total incurred time on your job was almost 2 1/2 hours with over $50 in parts, not to mention the fact that we warranty our work which means we have to come back out and replace parts and supply labor for free. We respect people's honest opinions and the facts. Sometimes, some of our customers don't realize actually how much time and cost are incurred to do a job. About 80% of our work that our company does is repairing damage done by companies that say they are plumbers, but are not legal, or properly licensed and have no idea what they are doing. Our profits are very small, and all licensed legitamate plumbing companies are about the same price. Customers should be be leery of companies that charge less. Thank you, Scott"

I would not use this company again. I was charged $200 for a "diagnostic fee" because of the excessive time spent on them trying to over charge my home owner insurance. I was bill $886 for garbage disposal and the fee. Think about that. On top of this the work was shoddy. I complained to Scott and he had to come out and reinstall correctly. I told him that I was not happy with his company or the work. Not Recommended

I had called Scott's plumbing to ask them if they could send someone out to look at my ejector pump since it appeared to stop working. I spoke to the owner when I called. He said he would send someone out that day. When the plumber arrived, I led him to the sewage stack and pump. The plumber never attempted to inspect the pump. He just said if the pump isn't working, then it's bad and needs to be replaced. He made that assumption without ever plugging the pump in. He also mentioned a valve needed replacement. He did visually observe the valve since it was right in front of his face. He spent a total of 2 minutes looking at the sewage stack, and again never inspected the pump. He then quoted me over $3,000.00 to replace the pump and valve. I told him that I would have to think about that and would get back to them. The plumber left, but came back to my door a few minutes later stating that his company required him to charge a $190.00 inspection fee. For two minutes of a partial inspection. Instead of a long argument, I went ahead and paid it, but now I'm regretting it. I called another plumber who did a proper inspection and didn't charge me an inspection fee. The total cost for full replacement of valve and pump from this other plumbing company was half the cost at $1500.00. I wouldn't have been as upset about the inspection fee if the owner told me about this fee upfront, which he didn't. I will never recommend Scott's plumbing to anyone needing a plumber. They need to be more upfront about fee to their customers who are calling in to get help. And their pricing has no logic behind it, especially after I did some more research and talked to other plumbers on what this would all cost.
Response from Scott’s Plumbing, LLC
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], We charge $1,488 for replacing a sewage ejector pump under normal circumstances, and that includes replacing valve and float. There is no way to test the check valves, so we just replace them and that is included in the $1,488. As far as a diagnostic charge, we pulled your ejector pump lid, tested the floats and pump, and inspected drainage and vent piping, which we found leaks that would be an additional charge. We give free estimates, but we performed work to obtain an accurate diagnosis, so we charged you for the work we did. I don't understand your review, and I wish you would have called our office so we could have explained our charges to you better. Sounds like there was some kind of misunderstanding. Thank you, Scott"

We contacted Scott's Plumbing after business hours and within one hour, Scott arrived to assess the situation. He was able to quickly identify what needed to be done and was able to help us stabilize the back up so no further water was leaking. Scott arranged for us to have the pump replaced early the next morning. The repair/ replacement went very smoothly and we were back to normal in less than 24 hours. Throughout the entire process we were impressed by not only Scott and his staff's professionalism, timeliness, knowledge and commitment to a job well done; but we also greatly appreciated their personalized, friendly service. They clearly went above and beyond to make sure that we were delighted with our experience. We will definitely work with them again.

Scott did a great job and patiently retrofitted new water heater into the space the old heated fit. Made sure everything worked properly before he left. Added an expansion tank which I learned was a good idea if your house's water system has a back flow device. He obviously takes pride in his work and I highly recommend him.
