OVERPRICED & UNRESPONSIVE. On 2/28/19 we had water coming out of a pipe in our basement so we called Service Plus. They sent a plumber who diagnosed the problem as a clogged sewer line...which he could not fix. So they sent someone else same day to clean the line from the outside clean-out pipe. They could not get their snake through the clog from the outside, so they sent out yet ANOTHER tech with a camera. After assessing the problem from outside and inside the house, this third Service Plus employee decided that a more major repair would be required, possibly cutting into the wall of our finished basement, cutting into the sewer line, digging down to the sewer line outside with a backhoe, and taking most of the next day (Friday) to do it. All to the tune of $3500, which he generously knocked down to $3125! We were stuck, with no ability to use any of our water-related appliances, we had them come out the next day. Two workers arrived at 8:00 on Friday morning. After waiting a few minutes to let the utility workers finish marking the utility lines, they set to work. Less than an hour later (at 9:00) they called us outside to show what they had done. They hand-dug (with shovels, NOT the backhoe) to the sewer line, cut a section between the house and the clean-out, and cleared a clog from that section. Now they were waiting for the guy with the camera (same from the day before) to come out to inspect the rest of the line. He arrived more than an hour later and found there was still a clog in the line. They replaced the small section of cut sewer line outside and ran a snake from one of our INSIDE toilets, which cleared the clog. All work was completed by 12 (a total of not more than 3 hours work) and they were still going to charge us the $3125. Only when pressed did they reduce it by $500 because they did not use the backhoe. So it was still $2625 to clear a clogged sewer line. (We have since found that other companies would have charged closer to $200-300 for the same job by simply running the snake from the inside in the first place.) Unhappy with the price, we called Service Plus that afternoon (3/1/19) and were told that the GM (Jimmy) was gone for the day but that he would be back in touch. No call back on Monday. It was not until more phone calls and an online chat that we finally spoke with Jimmy on Wednesday (3/6). He was not at all sympathetic to our argument that we were grossly overcharged for a job that took less than three hours and ultimately was not as complex as they originally made it out to be. After a few contentious moments, he said he would discuss it with the owner and call right back. As of this writing, that was more than 48 hours ago. No call back. So here is Service Plus: 1) could not finish the job correctly the first time, 2) overcharged for the job that WAS done, and 3) completely unresponsive to dissatisfied customers.

Incompetent or just Gougers We had a leak in a pipe in the ceiling in our basement. Service Plus sent, first, a plumber who said it was a clogged sewer line but he could not fix it. Then they sent a guy with a snake to clean out the sewer line outside the house. He ran into the problem and gave up. They then sent a guy with a camera who showed us pictures of our sewer line from the inside that showed absolutely nothing. He then jumped to the conclusion that we had a major clog and it would require backhoes, cutting into our finished basement wall, laying new sewer pipe and would take 6 to 8 hours to the tune of $3500.He graciously discounted it to $3125. Since he told us not to use much water or flush toilets we certainly felt the need to get it fixed immediately. So we agreed. The next morning at 8 am 2 men showed up with a backhoe but started hand digging around our sewer access. By before 9 am, less than an hour later, they called us out to show us they had taken a piece of sewer pipe out that they said was responsible for the clog and were replacing it. They then sat for more than an hour while they waited for the guy with the camera to come back out. They tried the snake again and it still did not unclog. Then a brainstorm hit! Try the snake from inside the house. Within minutes we were unclogged and by noon they were cleaned up and gone, leaving us a discounted bill of $2625 for less than 3 hours of work. So, if you are a plumbing company should not you have figured out you should try the snake from the inside, to begin with? Why did it take 4 separate visits to figure this out Why would they charge such an extreme amount when, really, they should have figured it out and fixed it sooner So the question is, are they just incompetent or did they do it on purpose in order to extort $2625 out of us? We have now called several plumbing companies and everyone has said that the charge is outrageous and no one can understand why they did not try going from the inside of the house, to begin with. We have it in writing from one company that this same job would have been $205. Then to add insult to injury when we called to complain and discuss this exorbitant charge, it took 3 days for the General Manager Jimmy to call us back and then he was abrasive and when asked why we were charged $2625 for what amounted to less than 3 hours of work his response was my people should not be penalized for being efficient. Efficient or incompetent He then said he would talk to the owner and call us right back. That was 2 days ago. If you are an upstanding company first you lower the price on a job when you realize it was not as extensive as originally thought and secondly you face your customers and respond to them. Do not be misled by the website that says you can email with concerns and get an answer within 24 hours. We tried that too. Or the part about calling and talking to the owner. That is a lie too. We called 3 times, sent an email and chatted online. Three days later we got a phone call from Jimmy who has yet to resolve this 2 days later when he promised to call us right back. Wow what an awful company. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The serviceman was prompt, efficient, and knowledgeable. We needed a hot water line on the water heater sweated in 2 places. It took exactly one hour. Parts: 12'' copper pipe and 2 couplings, less than $5 retail. The charge was $280. We were shocked. They give you a price up front before they start. $79 trip charge which they apply to the bill. At allosteric $300 an hour for service, that is s ridiculous! We will never use them again and will share our experience in Nextdoor.
