"Contractors beware! (consumer name withheld per their request) pushed and bullied me from the beginning of his project. I over trusted and believed in his word and handshake. I asked for a signed contract and deposit for materials and yet he refused to pay anything until half way thru the project, which was still $5k less than what was requested for the deposit, which did not even cover the delivered materials. When I approached him yet another time about a draw to simply cover materials, he refused and said "I like to hold this over your head so you will continue to work." Spring of 2016 was very wet which delayed not only his project, and several projects before and after; consequently, pushing all my jobs back, and for that I repeatedly apologized. (consumer name withheld per their request) pool was in the back yard at the bottom of a steep hill. Any amount of rain made using equipment to move over 100 TONS of stone very challenging and dangerous in wet and muddy conditions. Trying to make up for the rain delays, we continued to work using wheelbarrows to haul stone and block down the slippery hill until it could dry up. Summer of 2016 was also very HOT with temps in the high 90's and heat index reaching up to 115, for several weeks, I had one employee, myself included, suffer from heat exhaustion and yes that is why we left for lunch to find cold water and air conditioning. My foreman and one crew member both had deaths in the family during this project which I gave time needed to be with their families. We continued to work with a small crew given the situation. When building a wall, we start at the lowest point and build up, in this project the lowest point was the back of the pool. We built a circular wall around the pool, which put the last block placed our "key stone" in front. (consumer name withheld per their request) did not like the look of this "key stone" and said he "did not want to have to stare at it for the next 20 years" So even without a signed contract and full deposit, we tore down the wall to rotate all the blocks to a position he liked better. Given the height of the wall I recommended an engineered block with a pin system. Because of the pins and a circular pool, we had to make cuts to the blocks and the caps to accommodate the circumference of the pool. So yes we had to redo and chisel glue off of caps when the request was made to rotate a wall and caps. Every issue (consumer name withheld per their request) had and brought to my attention, we corrected despite the time it added on to the project. (consumer name withheld per their request) looked me in the eyes and shook my hand and agreed to pay me when we finished the project. On the morning of last day he pulled me aside and refused to pay the final $15,000 he owed to us. We continually made any changes that he requested throughout the 7 weeks we were on the job, without complaint. Every effort was made to accommodate any and all requests that said cus"
"We regret having worked for Brandi B. She didnt mark private utilities per contract, as a result we cut the septic line which we repaired that same day. She approved the design and yet she chose not to communicate her expectations, until after the flagstone patio was built. We rebuilt the patio to her approval cutting every flagstone for the unnaturally tight fit she wanted. There was destruction of the lawn, b/c we dug for a patio! She did not want to remove the excavated soil or bring in new soil so we spread what was her poor soil to begin with. We did all she requested including an extra 2 days of work to make it right."
"We were asked to remove roots from 2 tree stumps that were cut down by another company and not taken care of during stump grinding. The underground roots were longer and deeper than hoped for. To do it right we had to dig deeper resulting in more of the yard begin torn up than expected. We brought in extra topsoil, graded and seeded all disturbed areas. It is better than before and not what I had expected as well for trying to remove tree roots."
