In search of roofing and gutter replacement contractors we contacted Angi’s! We are originally from out of state and was told by everyone to be cautious in choosing contractors! Simon Mata from Silks Roofing (813-841-2739) immediately contacted us and recommended Justin D. Smith the owner of Silks Roofing. Justin’s presentation satisfied our needs at his first visit and he put us on his schedule. Justin’s crew was on time each day and was very friendly. They worked those extremely frosty days the last of January 2026 and never missed a beat! We are so happy and pleased with the crew of Silks Roofing (941-993-6455) Justin Smith-Owner and Simon Mata! Simon and Justin also introduced us to Jorge Lucas owner of American Elite Gutters at 941-447-8217 to do our whole house and it looks wonderful! We got the phone number for Silks Roofing from my sales rep of a new home that we had built 3 1/2 years ago. Our house has been through three major storms/hurricanes since it’s been built. We had the roof inspected after the first storm with only minor damage to corners of our roofing tiles. We figured that after the first couple storms with no significant damage and lesser winds with following storms that we were in the clear. Our house next-door to us recently sold, and the new owners had an inspection done and they had a few crack tiles. While Justin was on our neighbors roof. He happened to notice that we had some tiles that had slipped out of place on our roof and wanted to know if we wanted our roof to be looked at. We said yes, please if you don’t mind looking at our roof while you’re here that would be greatly appreciated. Justin’s attention to detail was unbelievable. He photographed every area of concern and gave us a comprehensive review of what he had found. There was nothing major just some tiles that had slipped. I think there were four and while he was up on the roof doing the Inspection he went ahead and did the repairs. To our surprise, he came and gave us a comprehensive report showed us what he did and said that we were in great shape. I can’t tell you how pleased we were with his professionalism, his knowledge of our roofs, and his honest opinion of where we stood. I would recommend him to anyone who would ask.
