Simply Sod

They initially did a good job. However they needed to come back to do a replacement and to remove a tree and they did not come back.

I had a terrible experience with Simply Sod. The sod was installed in January, and Ben assured me this was an optimal time for getting sod installed because winter meant there would be less bugs and the grass would have time to get established before the summer heat and summer bugs could damage it. There was a cold snap coming and I asked several times if that would be okay and he said yes. The sod (Bahia) arrived the day before it was installed and it looked awful. It looked dead. My fiance was very concerned and called Ben to tell him his concerns but Ben reassured us that is what Bahia looks like at first, but it would green up after a few weeks. The next day the sod was installed and I wasn't very impressed. Not only did the sod look brown and dead, but there were gaps in between several pieces of sod and the sod was uneven and bumpy. I don't know anything about grass or sod installation and he said everything would be fine and it would green up and even out. Ben also told us to get the grass sprayed to help it green up and because that was like "insurance" if anything goes wrong with the sod, it's there fault. We spent a lot of money to get our lawn sodded, so we did everything we could to get it to grow. We got it sprayed, we watered it regularly and we never cut it. It's been 2.5 months, and the sod only greened up in a few patches, so I reached out to Ben and sent him pictures and asked him what was wrong. He replied with, "the grass is dead." I continued texting with him and he repeatedly said "it's not my fault, I don't know what you want me to do." I don't know anything about grass, and that's why we hired a professional, but I do suspect that if the product you're given doesn't look healthy, doesn't look good when it is laid, and doesn't change it's appearance or even GROW (we never even got it cut because it didn't grow) after two months of watering, then the product you started with was dead. Ben offered to install new sod if we bought new grass, but considering how uneven the grass is as well as it being dead, we are going to go another route. We wasted two months and a lot of money.

Easy to work with. He kept in touch as to when he was coming to do the sod work. Cleaned up when they were done. He made some suggestions on how he can fix some other issues I have with my yard by planting a different sod in the shady areas. I didn't know that was available.

By Florida standards I would give Simply Sod a 5 +++ rating. The owner, Ben, explained in detail everything he would do. I thought it was just scrape up the old sod and put down the new sod. You might say I got a "sod education". The job was done on time, at the price quoted, and looks great. I recommend them highly.

Simply Sod came out and gave me an estimate on 10/25/17, which was competitive and within reasonable. So, I hired Simply Sod to remove a large tree stump in my front yard. They started on 11/11/17 and worked 2 hrs. and their chain saw got stucked and they couldn't finish the job on that day. They returned on 12/01/17 and finished cutting up the stump and I paid them because he said it would cost me more than what he had originally quoted me and they would come back and pick up the remaining stumps when they get their trailer repaired. But it seems like after I paid them, I keep calling them - they keep coming up with excuses and now will not answer the phone. And the 5 large tree stumps is still left in my front yard. The Neighborhood Officer came by on 12/15/17 to inquire about what was I planning on during with them and I told him That Simply Sod has stood me up and I'm still waiting on them to come by and pick them up and finish the job I paid the for. I'm still waiting on them. Is there any recourse U have in helping me to get them to finish the work they started. Their review rating with me is poor and that's why I am posting this, so they won't do other customer like they are doing me. From the time of the estimate given to now has been about 2 mos. to do a job that would have just taken 5-6 hrs. total or less has they stayed on it until completed.
