UPDATE: After 4.5 years, this guy showed up at my house complaining about the review I gave him. Spoke to my spouse and asked if I had any evidence of him taking my money, not returning communications, and not completing the job. I hired David Rick Simpson in March of 2019 for survey and plat updates to my 8.5 acres farm in Leesburg, based on HomeAdvisor recommendation. Rick told me I was his first HomeAdvisor referral and he had just signed up for the service the week before. Rick initially was responsive and came out to put flags on the line. We had agreed to the price of $4000 for all work, and I had provided an initial down payment of $1000 for the work. Weeks went by with no contact and no update. I reached out for an update on several occasions and received various excuses for why the work was not complete including family emergencies. I gave the benefit of the doubt and agreed for him to continue the work. Rick asked for additional funds to help him complete the work in August of 2019; I provided a $1500 check. He came out for a few hours in late August. I contacted him in September to see when the work would be complete, again I received a family emergency excuse. It is now December 2019 and still the work is not complete - for $2500 I have a few flags on the property. I would not recommend this company for any work; there is no proactive communication and no adherence to agreed upon timelines or work completion. I feel that this individual and company have stolen money from me for work not completed.

Mr. Simpson was very responsive and completed the land survey of our property in Leesburg within 5 days of my initial inquiry. He was a pleasure to work with and his many years of experience doing this work was clearly demonstrated. He discovered how the neighbor's fence line encroached on property lines. He offered a fair price for good, prompt work. I would highly recommend him.

UPDATE TO MY PREVIOUS REVIEW: The work was excellent and at an awesome price. Simpsonâ  s partners and subcontractors are backed up so your survey may take a little longer to be done. Longer than initial estimates. No problem for me but the only complaint I have is that there was little communication about the status of my survey.

While I was initially hesitant about using Home Advisor, David Simpson changed my mind. After a month or so of trying to vet surveyors and getting unrealistic quotes and times for service, I turned to Home Advisor. Within an hour after I completed my email to Home Advisor, I had the name of David Simpson, his phone number, background and reviews. Within two hours of the Home Advisor email notification, I had a call from David Simpson. We spoke at length about the project and what I was trying accomplish. David quoted me price that was in within my budget (and within a range that Home Advisor had listed) for the services I needed. David gave me a time frame as to when he might be able to complete the work. David arrived on time the day of the scheduled survey. He went about his work in a professional manner. His attitude was good and he seemed fine (not disturbed) by answering any questions I had. Amazingly, within 72 hours of our initial phone call, my project was completed. I would not hesitate to call on David Simpson again or recommend him to any of my neighbors for surveying services. Al N. Hamilton, Va

Never followed up with me and after several emails I gave up.

Honest, responsive, friendly. Contacted Mr. Simpson on Saturday evening, he came out Sunday and performed the survey. Gave me a fair price and was very professional. Highly recommend.

Very satisfied & nice & the price is right.

He gave me a reasonable quote, came out quickly, marked the one line I needed marked, and even when he forgot to add in the county fees, honored the original quote.

He explained how home advisor works, which I greatly appreciate, as we get way too many telemarketer phone calls, in his voice mail. He phoned when he was running late, again something I greatly appreciate, and he did the job requested at the price he quoted. I am still waiting for the receipt. I would hire him again if necessary.

Great communication and good work, Would recement him highly. He explained everything well and provided excellent details to our property.

Professional, answered my questions to my satisfaction. Mr. Simpson and his assistant used the tall tripod laser machine (sorry, I don't remember the special name) to mark our property lines with stakes before our project commences. If I ever need them again, then I would be happy to call them for future business. A pleasure to work with Mr. Simpson & his assistant. I'm thankful for a his return call after I left a message, and I'm thankful for an overall positive experience!

Mr. Stinson was very knowledgeable and helpful. He responded quickly and had my information the very next day. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing land survey services.
