Matthew Skinner was friendly and reliable. We hired him for several other smaller jobs in addition to building our new deck. We'd highly recommend him. Our only concern was the condition of the lumber versus what we actually paid for. I would suggest before committing to any deck builder, ask him/them for a list of materials that will be needed for the job, go to Lowe's or Home Depot to inspect and purchase the lumber yourself and have them deliver it. I learned recently (during and after the construction of our new deck) that two of my colleagues are currently or will be having their decks constructed this summer and that's the route they took. This way, you can try to avoid lumber with multiple imperfections such as surface cracks, waning, rotted-out areas and knots. Realistically, there will be some imperfections in dealing with wood and the treating process(es) before it reaches the warehouses, however our lumber had far too many issues.
