Terrible service. Always made up stories about why they didn't start on time. Eventually he said he would have a double crew out there.... One guy showed up. they eventually did some sanding and powerwashing...... then they disappeared again. The subcontractor (apparently Jim doesn't have his own crew) called me looking for money. Then Jim (the owner) asked me to buy cedar shake which he was supposed to supply. It's now December 1st and still no paint on any surface since August 17th. I want my money back.....

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! AVOID at all costs. Contractor Jim has overbooked his people. They never showed up from September! N ever received any communication or notice that it would be so long. FInally when I really started complaining he would say, " they'll be there next week" well they never showed. I've been told I would get a refund and I'm still waiting. : I get excuses like "we only have a bookeeeper one day a week" well it's been weeks and noone has ever contacted me except Jim, I'm starting to wonder if anyone else works there. also their website id down now and the 1800 number is straight to busy... great

My complaint is against Home Improvement Contractor #0645033 Smart Permanent Coating Systems owned by James Brien. They violated the EPA's Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) which requires firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes built before 1978 have their firm certified by EPA, use certified renovators who are trained and follow lead-safe work practices. They violated the RRP rules when the contractors sanded, grinded, power washed, and used a leaf blower to blow the lead dust and paint chips all around my home. Now it has been over 2 months and the fine dust has been scattered by wind and rain but the larger paint chips are still on the ground. The contractor keeps telling me that they will have it cleaned up but it still has not been done and I have allowed ample time. Each day that passes is another opportunity for the toxic lead contamination to spread more and I am worried about the health risks. They also breached the contract by failing to perform the work that was promised by the completion date of Sept 12, 2017. They also damaged (3) three roofs, broke a window, painted over (4) four windows and screens, damaged (2) two doors, over-sprayed on porch floors, shutters and walls, dripped paint on the patio and cellar hatch door. Also did permanent damage to the wood trim on my home. The paint work they did was so shoddy it started peeling only a few days later. On Sept 30 the owner promised to refund the ($1,900) I paid in advance and fix the damages but to date all I have gotten is the run-around. He keeps putting it off, saying that he will call or email me “tomorrow” but tomorrow comes and goes and nothing happens. I have given him ample time to issue the refund and correct the damages but to date nothing has been done.

Contract was singed 30 days ago, no work has even been started. I put half down, balance to be paid upon completion. It doesn't sound like the job will ever get done and winter is coming. I am afraid I will wind up with an incomplete job and poor quality work. Unless extreme and complete remedial action is taken to rectify this unfortunate circumstance, I could not in good conscience recommend this company or home advisor to anyone.

Hired on 8/16/17. Demanded 50 percent up front instead of 1/3 a 1/3 and a 1/3.Never showed up to do the work. I was lied to on multiple phone calls on when they would start. They make up every excuse you can imagine. I terminated them today 10/20/17 after Jim Byrne said they we coming today and they never showed up.

One of the things I liked was I got an accurate quote, they were speedy and they cleaned up after themselves, they were very responsive and answered all my questions immediately. Only tip I can give is ask for additional pictures of their work when getting a quote. Their work was great, but in the initial process of getting quotes, we would have liked additional pictures to view before deciding on hiring them.

Lisa is pretty quick, accurate with her work, and was considerate with what I was looking for.
