It is our priority to continue our business practices in the same manner today that we did over 49 years ago. I chose to work in this industry because I chose to work in this industry because it was my birthright. My father started this company in 1970. I was raised being taught the art of plumbing and business leadership from a very young age. I am proud to have the knowledge instilled in me of this career. The knowledge that was passed down to me from my father, allows me to provide my customers with quality products and professional workmanship. This company is my families legacy. Chris showed up on time. Only had to re-schedule appointment once. Other companies referred by Home Advisor postponed several times during scheduled day & then called to re-schedule another day. Felt like I was held prisoner all day. This was a small job. Felt I was put aside to get bigger jobs for more money. Smith & Son Plumbing worked harder to keep appointment time. Chris arrived on time. Work was done quickly & efficiently. Chris was so polite & patient explaining what needed to be done & why.

Clear a Clogged or Slow Drain

Biggest rip off I have ever experienced. I had a clogged sewer line and the toilet seal was leaking onto floor. Called Smith and Sons based on reviews. Two men came out and ran the root rooter and cleared the line, then put a new seal on the toilet. I got billed $635 from an hours work. I had no choice but to pay as I didn&#39;t get estimates from anyone. I grow madder every day at the way they took advantage of me. I am retired and live on Social Security, this charge took a big bite out of my checking account. I would warn anyone to think twice before calling this plumbing company.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
