The whole team at Solar Side Up has been wonderful to work with. My previous installer (not Solar Side Up) made numerous mistakes with the installation, causing my panels to eventually stop working. The Solar Side Up team worked to diagnose and fix the issues over multiple visits. The whole team is professional, fair, and friendly, would definitely recommend.

I initially contacted Solar Side Up in February of 2024 for a solar design and proposal alongside others that I have worked with. The process and attentiveness from Brian especially through the design and proposal process along with his expertise in the design and material selection instilled a lot of confidence. They were not the cheapest company that we found, but they were very competitive along with the confidence they instilled through the process that set them apart from the others. When going through our usage history with the utility alongside of our site plan, Brian made specific recommendations to accommodate as many panels as we would need to both maximize production efficiency with a better, and more compact panel alongside an ideal microinverter to keep costs as reasonable as possible. Once we committed to move forward at the end of March, Kirsten and the team were on top of a pre-install site survey and all of the permit applications and approvals with the HOA, City and power utility and everything was approved to move forward within 3 weeks. Installation was promptly scheduled for the following week and the installation crew were prompt, courteous and professional. A couple of installation curveballs came up from the time of the onsite survey to installation and they were able to handle with ease. The final install was very clean and perfectly done. The City electric inspector said verbatim that he wished all of the solar system installations were this well done. I'm not exaggerating that statement in any way. I have had a very positive experience from start to finish with Solar Side Up and will absolutely recommend them to others looking to move forward with Solar. They were very easy to work with from start to finish and treated me like a fellow human being, which I found the most valuable. I felt this was a partnership versus just getting another sale.

My experience with Solar Side Up has been disappointing due to a lack of transparency and unexpected costs. The company promoted their product as a “smart investment” and a way to reduce our carbon footprint, but they failed to mention key details about maintenance costs and system downtime. **Unexpected Service Fees and Long Wait Times** We were not informed about the $350 diagnostic fee, which must be paid upfront, or the three-week wait time for service calls. We expected some maintenance but were surprised by how often the system goes down—leaving us to pay out of pocket for repairs. - If an issue involves Enphase equipment, Enphase sends replacement parts directly to us. However, Solar Side Up charges extra fees for diagnosing and then to come back to do the repairs. There is also the downtime cost, 3 weeks to diagnose, time for part to come to the house, more downtime waiting for them come back out to install the part. **No Alerts for System Failures** There are no notifications when the system fails. We found out ours had stopped working after reviewing a monthly report, only to realize it had been down for weeks. When we asked about setting up alerts, we were told it wasn’t possible. - Our system has been down for months, even though it's only a few years old, and we feel stuck paying for diagnostics and repairs without knowing the full cost. ** No Installation Warranty ** We believed since we dealt with Solar Side Up from the start that they would handle warranties for both equipment and installation. We believed we had a 10 year warranty on the installation not including the Enphase warranty on the equipment, we were wrong. - The contract we signed with Solar Side Up stated: o “9. QUALITY OF WORK: Contractor agrees that it will correct any defects in materials or workmanship that arise within ten (10) years of substantial completion of the Work. “ Wouldn’t all the work and materials that are not Enphase such as the wiring, conduit, breakers, and placement be covered by item “9” in this contract? Not according to Solar Side Up. - Solar Side Ups Answer: o “I understand the verbiage can be confusing. The first part is the workmanship warranty as I mentioned and the materials referenced would be if our installer destroyed the wires in your breaker or something directly caused by workmanship. Anything related to your Enphase products is separate and is covered by that warranty. “ **Limited Solutions for Ongoing Problems** When the system doesn't work, customers are left with few options. If you can't service the equipment yourself, you depend entirely on the installer, who knows you're tied into a financial commitment and can't produce energy as promised. There is no compensation for the energy lost during downtime. **Conclusion** I would caution anyone considering Solar Side Up to have a lawyer review your contract thoroughly. Their initial promises may not align with the actual experience, as the burden of maintenance and warranty management falls heavily on the customer.

Solar Side Up took over my maintenance and warranty when 1800Solar tanked. They tracked my system and alerted me to issues I was having with my solar. They went above and beyond by coordinating the solution to the issue and resolving my problems. Their maintenance of my system has been excellent.
