I was very pleased with their work. I had them redo some aged oak floors and the floors look fantastic. Linke many contractors, however, communication and scheduling isn't their strong point.

We hired this company to replace our existing wooden porch railings with new railings. We also were having metal roofs put on 2 of our 3 buildings and getting gutters on part of the buildings. During the initial consultation phases the company was very prompt. We signed a contract and gave 1/2 down as requested. We asked that the company keep in contact with us as we knew that our projects would not be started for a couple of months. After a couple of months we started trying to contact them. Via phone and email. We got a phone message stating that the company had a start date for us and another message that material would be in our yard. We called several more times and finally got to speak to the secretary. She had no answers for us. Turns out we share last names with another customer and the messages were for them. We weren't happy with the lack of answers. The owner calls and our projects are scheduled. The porch railing are beautiful, but the workmanship was not. The porch railings were not attached to the house, none of the post caps were secure, the rails going down the steps (2-1 each side) were broken, cracked and uneven. We took pictures and sent a text--too upset to call them. The owner called us the next business day, said he would fix the problems for us. He came down at the end of the week to access the problems, came back the following week to fix the problems. He fixes them, leaves. The majority of the problems are fixed. But we have a brand new post with a hole in it because the first crew put the rails in unevenly. That is not the only issue, but it is a major one and totally unacceptable. These are not wood railings, but white "vinyl like", so it is very noticeable. Again pictures and text sent. No response. We are hiring someone else to fix this and the other minor issues. So the porch project gets a1 rating. The roof project. We wanted metal roofs put on 2 buildings and we wanted gutters on both sides of 1 and only 1 side of the other. The roofers did an excellent job, except they gave us gutters on both sides of both buildings. They also tore the shingle roof off the third building and replaced them with new shingles. This was not requested. So I am not sure whether to give them a 4 or a 6. 4 because they didn't do as requested or a 6 because they did more. The roofing crew I would hire again. Overall I would not use this company again. Others seem to have had a good experience, not sure what happened with us. The customer service is poor, while the people were pleasant to talk with when we reached them, contacting them was very hard for us. Emails and phone messages generally got no response. If the work on the front porch had been acceptable I would have rated them higher in the value for money category.

Amazing customer service. Absolutely perfect installation

My only disappointment with my ratings is that I was required to select 1-star, would have selected 0 across the board. Fortunately for me Southern Comfort Construction never provided a bid. Requested a bid in December 2016, to date after meeting their estimator in January I still have nothing. No bid, no calls, no communication. This follows providing detailed dimensioned plans and a site walk through with their estimator for a project to include a large garage 32x55, existing garage to entertainment and kitchen storage space, the addition of a 4-season porch, and the addition of a first floor master (550 sq. ft.) and an outside patio dining and recreation area. Not a low ball project. To their credit Southern Comfort responded to my request. 6 others didn't even respond. At this point I have a single word to describe my experience. Disgusted!

My original review was posted in January 2017, but for some reason removed, so a recap for anyone looking to contract out work with this company: Hired Dennis and crew to finish install of shower tile and new backsplash in kitchen, and for some drywall repairs. Originally contacted in September 2016, signed contract and made down payment in October, and worked was started after Thanksgiving. The only work completed by them was approximately 25% of the shower tile install and installation of a niche for a shelf in shower. There was no work started in the kitchen and no drywall repair. After multiple calls and texts to arrange for work to be completed, I stopped receiving responses. Only after I posted a (negative) review did I receive phone calls and emails from the office manager wanting to remedy the situation. The lack of communication and professionalism are the main reason for this review, but the work that was finished was mediocre at best. I would not recommend this company.

Hard workers

very easy to work with and to discuss things with... employees broke their proverbial fannies working hard the entire time they were here. I was probably a "bit of a pill" to them on a couple of things, but they were extremely professional in all matters. Would highly recommend them.

The work was impressively well done. An unexpected problem was discovered as work progressed, I was advised of this and they corrected it. The workers were very pleasant and this was a positive experience for me. Their follow up to see if I was satisfied was a good feature.

I have paid them but no floor has been installed, no phone calls no emails. I have not heard anything from this company.

Quick clean, friendly ,professional I'm sure they are the best

On time, professional, trustworthy as I was not home at the time of service. Even attached back a part of my gutter that had come loose from the fascia board and verified the gutter had the correct slope for proper drainage. Reasonably priced.

Excellent workmanship using quality materials. Courteous workers who were responsive to questions and concerns. Once project was begun, completed it in a timely and efficient manner. Deck looks great and is much more stable. I will definitely use them again for another home improvement project.

I am hard to please as I am a real estate appraiser and I see lots of less than professional work. I am happy that we chose this company. They did the work professionally, quickly with good communication through out the process. We will use them again for future work.

The work was scheduled quickly and completed by a trio of workers in a couple days. The new roof looks wonderful.
