Terrible experience. The job was supposed to be done in two days and still not complete. I hired Souther Concrete Construction owned by Jesse Weaver to pour concrete sidewalks on both sides of the house and to pour and stamp a concrete patio. He attempted to finish the job on 22 June 2018, but due to not having enough concrete delivered and not having the proper manpower the job was not finished and very poorly done. He came the next day to so some more work, but still did not complete the job. He said he would come the following week to complete the job, but asked for payment, except $1000, until the job was done. The job had several quality issues, but Jesse Weaver was adamant that he would fix everything and that in the end I would be completely satisfied. He seemed honest and I was ignorant and paid him a total of $5,600. When the first rain came we noticed that the right (south) side walk, the front concrete under stairs, and the stamp concrete patio in the back yard all retained water. Additional issues include: triangular section of concrete in back of house was poured without any dirt/land preparation nor any forms and the concrete cracked within days; the concrete section under the front steps is where he ran out of concrete so the whole area is low, it was not finished (smoothed out) and one side did not have any form in place; the edges of most of the concrete were not finished ("edged") and look terrible; edges of the stamped concrete were not finished and look like pebble stone instead of pavers; powder dye from the stamped concrete is all over the back patio; the elevated deck, and concrete; concrete debris is all over yard; and the stamped concrete was never sealed. He has told me over the phone twice and once in person that he will finished and fix the job, but now is unresponsive. He was hired through HomeAdvisor (Complaint ID: 53360). I want the job completed and all the quality issues fixed like he stated he was going to do. He stated that the stamp job would have to be demolished and re-poured. He said the sidewalk would either have to be demolished and repaired or a layer of cement would have to be added to the top (I would just prefer it to be demolished and re-poured). He said that the edging could be repaired. He said a crew would come back and properly clean up the mess left from the job.

Where do I begin? Poor work quality. Water from patio drains towards the back porch instead of away. Our yard was completely torn up by the Bobcat they used. Between the hydraulic fluid it leaked and the huge spots of concrete that were spilled in our grass, we had to re-sod most of the yard. The framing was of such poor quality that concrete actually leaked out from underneath the frame. None of the home stucco was covered with any plastic wrap so now the stucco on our home is splattered with concrete. The crew, realizing what had happened, attempted to pressure wash the stucco which resulted in stucco being ripped off the house in spots. The concrete is uneven and one spot is discolored and holding water. Numerous phone calls prior to and during the job would go unanswered for days despite a deposit being paid. While the owner is a nice guy, the business practices are sub par and the work mediocre at best. I cannot in good faith recommend this company to any other family. We will need to get another company to come fix some of what's been done. We just wanted it to be over.

The project was badly done. The top was not uneven. Water come toward my house instead of away from it. I called and texted them to fix it. It did not work. Each time it rains it's overflowing into my house. I would never hire them again, nor recommend them to anyone.

Gave contractor a down payment as he requested: it took 4 weeks and several calls from the date of the payment for him to install the walk across the ditch. It took more than a week for the workers to return and remove the frame work. The bulkhead has still not been installed. Am looking for someone to complete the job.

You won't be disappointed, they did a great job. My husband and I were very pleased, they were punctual and helpful and ready to do whatever we asked. They had a few problems with tools but still managed to complete job on time.

They are quick to call you back to give estimate,we were fighting rainy days but scheduling work was always put off to another day, even though it was 20% chance. HE HAD PERSONAL ISSUES going on and maybe to many jobs at one time. Finished my driveway and sloped drainage into driveway instead of toward ditch. It's concrete, it can't be fixed without breaking up and redoing.

Jessie was very hands on from the start to finish and they did exactly what they said they would and under a time frame that most would not have been able to keep, due to days of oncoming weather. Jessie put in the extra time and got the drive poured and curing before we got the rain. One we got past he wet weather, the forms were removed and the excess concrete pieces removed, grass placed back where it was disturbed.

Great quote, started the driveway on time and when promised, did great work and cleaned up after. Great job.

Our saga started with Southern Concrete Construction on September 9, 2016. Through Home Advisor I contacted Jesse Weaver to give me a price on a concrete patio. The first appointment he cancelled till the next day. After Jesse gave me a price that we agreed to construction was going to start on a Monday. He called and said Tuesday would be better I agreed. Jesse and the crew arrived about 10:30 and started work. The cement truck arrived about 1 PM and the patio was poured. We were having the patio stamped, so the crew stayed around until the concrete was dry enough to stamp. Now it is getting dark and they really cannot see what they are doing but they continue to work this is where the problem starts. Jesse explains that the concrete must sit and dry, so he will be back on Thursday to clean and seal. On Thursday Jesse calls and Friday would be better. I agree. Jesse comes Friday, cleans the area and does something and makes the middle of the patio look different than the rest. Jesse says he will be back Monday to fix the problem and seal the patio. For a while I do not hear from Jesse. I call, cannot leave a message because his voice mail is full. I send an email, he responds a day later, says he has not forgotten, has truck trouble but will be to my home to repair and finish patio. Jesse has repaired the middle and it does look better, but it does not match other parts of the patio. Today is December 5, and the patio is still not finished. Jesse keeps promising to come and finish the work, but always has some kind of excuse. I guess part of the problem, I trusted him and paid him in full after the third visit. If you use Southern Concrete Construction be aware that it may take a long time to finish. He was driving from Picayune MS to Ponchatoula LA to do the work. I am unhappy with the work and the fact that he did come back to fix the problem I just had no idea that it would take this long.

Jesse Weaver iworks hard to please his customers. He is very experienced with new concrete flatwork and repairs.

The people were hard working and very detailed. The seem to have great knowledge and experience in the type of work they were doing. I am very satisfied at this point with the finished product and would not hesitate to recommend this company to others.
