Write a ReviewBBB of NH Grade of "F" and revoked accreditation. BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning extreme delays in promised work completion following the acceptance of monetary deposits for work and poor quality of completed work. The business has also demonstrated a lack of timely response to complaints filed by their consumers throughthe BBB complaint process. On July 6th, 2023, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address the pattern of complaints. As of July 20, 2023, BBB has not received a response from the business regarding our concerns.
If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor before paying them any money and review their Better Business Bureau status of F- Revoked and reviews. They don't post this rating on their website. It's too late for me but hopefully this will help others. Here's a brief summary. Sales guy came by to view the project and provided a quote same day. I paid 50% deposit same day. I called several days later for an update and was told the quote was in review due to pricing. I was transferred to a project manager that told me they made a mistake with the cost and it would be more than double the cost to complete the job as quoted. Or they would keep the cost the same and do much less work. He was less than pleasant and tried to blame me for taking advantage of them! Said they would refund my money within a week. I followed up again via email to check on the refund and received a response that was again trying to place blame on me for simply signing a quote and paying a deposit. Think it was the owner but no name provided to who responded. I followed up with a call and was told it would be a couple more weeks before they would mail my refund. This is the same treatment the others have received who filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I have roof leaks that need to be fixed and they have no sympathy or concern. I thought I was making a good choice with a local contractor. I've been treated much better doing projects with the the big box stores.
We regret any misunderstanding regarding the initial quote and subsequent discussions about the project's scope and cost. We do implement a review step in our procedures to ensure transparency and feasibility in all projects. Our aim is to lay out clear and workable terms within the contract during the 3-day right-to-rescission period for new contracts. Upon reviewing your estimate and examining our records, it was indeed communicated to you within that 3-day window that certain changes were necessary to ensure the project's viability and to align with the initial quote. Please know that we strive to maintain fair pricing while ensuring the
Dishonest company Do not do business with them
Run! Signed contract in March 2023. They didnt come to the house to ;measure for materials; until early August 2023; They tried to bill us for the complete project in September. They didn't respond to our attempt to contact them in early October. They scheduled a time to come out to the house again yesterday. We took time off work to meet and discuss how the to get the project back on track. the meeting was for noon. at 12:30 they texted to canceled the appointment saying they had the measurements and just needed to put the order together. The same thing they said the visit in early august was for. Contract has a clause for timely completion of the work. we havent changed anything in the original contract and now they say the contract is biding on us and if we cancel we wont get our deposit back. Their BBB rating has been revoked since we signed a contract with them and we don't seem to be alone in having this experience with them. https://www.bbb.org/us/nh/epping/profile/metal-roofing-contractors/southers-construction-incorporated-0051-92040658
The worst customer service possible. Been trying to get them to come repair my gutter that they broke and also the improper exposed nails at the top of my roof. I had to put a tarp over the nails to cover them up, and the gutter is a lost hope. All they do is ignore their customers and try to get as many new jobs as possible. Instead of trying to get so many jobs, how about you guys do things right and take care of your existing customers who unfortunately have to pay you. Weâ re lucky weâ re not getting water in our basement from the failing gutter that was broken by them. I do not recommend this company at all.
First, it would be nice if an option for Zero stars was available. My wife and I hired Southers Construction to swap our front entranceway door, and to install a new side door for our walkout basement. In March, we provided Southers with a check for 1/2 the project cost to book the work. We were told the project would be scheduled in two weeks, no problem. Itâ s now late July and have never received a call to schedule the work. Iâ ve called Southers Construction multiple times requesting a call back from the phone attendant, but have yet to receive a call. At this point Southers as stolen our 1/2 down payment for our home project. They canâ t be bothered to call a customer back after paying over $2,500 to book a project. These guys are thieves and should be avoided. I will need to hire an attorney to get my money back plus attorney fees (hopefully). Thank you
I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now, but it's been difficult because I want to give an honest summary of our experiences - warts and all - while still being fair about the end result. TLDR: Yes, there were some difficulties, however Donna, Ricky, Tim, and the whole Southers team made sure they were acknowledged, fixed, and in the end we are thrilled with the results. You can teach a person skills or a new role, but what you can't do is teach someone to care. These people care about the work they do and they're willing to put in the time and effort and stick with it, until it's done right. That level of dedication is priceless. I'll leave you with a few key lessons that I've learned during this project. 1. Make sure you have a permit to hang in your window before any work starts. 2. If your house is older than 1978, test for lead paint. Any estimates should include the cost of lead abatement. 3. Maintain open, active communication and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. 4. Stay organized! Keep any/ all documentation and photos throughout the project.
I have used them before. They are really great to work with.
Complaint Details Southers Construction LLC and I both signed a work contract on 7/29/2022 for roof repair. Two areas of the roof would be repaired: chimney reflashing and re-shingling a valley within the roof. For the valley roof repair the work contract stated, " Remove and asses the current rubber roof. Remove flashing along the siding. Remove siding. Assess the damage that the current system has done. Then properly tie in the rubber roof, siding flashing, re-side, and reshingle areas needed. If repair is done sooner than 8 hours, a chargeback will be given. The chimney reflashing work agreement stated. Grind out old lead from the chimney and install a new 12 rolls of lead step flashing. Install ice and water shield around the chimney. Seal each step of lead flashing. Remortar sections of the chimney that we grind out the old lead from. A fifty percent deposit was given to Southers Construction on 7/29/2022 for the work they agreed to complete. The check was cashed by Southers Construction on 8/01/2022. A project manager was assigned to our job on 8/10/2022. The Project Manager came to the house and checked out the job. He suspected the chimney itself needed attention and contacted a mason to inspect it. The mason, not a Southers employee, said the chimney needed to be rebuilt from the roof line. A new chimney was built on 9/29/2022. Work began on our roof project on 10/07/2022. Subcontractors, not Southers Construction Employees, were assigned to our job. These subcontractors completed the job that day with a couple of quick onsite check-ins, from the ground, by our assigned Southers project manager. On 10/08/2022, the Project Manager came to the house to inspect the work. The job in the valley of the roof was deemed incomplete and unsatisfactory by the Project Manager and would be assigned to another subcontractor for a future date. The chimney work was inspected from the ground, and the Project Manager had an injured knee and was unable to climb. We assumed the chimney was completely satisfactory. On 12/17/2022 the repair around the chimney leaking. A replaced interior ceiling was showing a large watermark. Immediately Southers Construction was called; the receptionist said an urgent message would be forwarded and we would hear back from someone. No one returned the call. Subsequent calls were left on Southers' voicemail for the following two days. On 12/20/2022 I requested to speak with the owner, and I explained the situation. He said he'd have a project manager call me that day. No one called. Southers Construction LLC does not live up to its agreement. The job was not completed skillfully. Southern 's subcontracts out the job and does not adequately supervise. Through negligence, Southers Construction is liable for repair work and interior damage. They will not return my call. Desired Outcome/Settlement Desired Settlement: Repair None Provided
I hired Southers to replace fascia and install gutters. They ended up installing fascia, shadow board, drip edge, and gutters. During the first rain storm after their work, I saw that water was leaking into the eaves on both sides of my house. The water went behind the fascia and dripped out the bottom where the inside edge of the fascia met the soffit. I contacted Southers and they said they would take care of it. This only meant that they sent out the original crew to hastily put some sealant along the drip edge along my whole roof. The leaks were reduced but many areas still had water coming through. I discussed this issue with Southers for several months. They eventually came to acknowledge that the water is coming through the drip edge (took some video to prove it - they attempted to claim it was somewhere else). While trying to convince them to repair, I hired a home inspector to inspect the job. He confirmed that the leak is at the drip edge and the fault is the way Southers did the project. After several months, Southers agreed that the water is coming in at the drip edge they installed, but says this is still not their fault and they will do no repairs. They told me to go hire someone else to fix it. One employee said there is some trial and error involved and they could not predict it would leak. Sad but true.
