Founded in 1992, A Better Insulation Co. has successfully marketed Radiant Barrier insulation from our base in Northern California to the western states. This cost-effective product was developed by N.A.S.A. for space travel. It reflects 97% of the heat back to its source, thereby outperforming traditional "R" value type insulations. It consists of two thin layers of 99% pure aluminum with a layer of tough polyethelene sandwiched in between, making it function like a thermos bottle, hot stays hot cold stays cold. It's perforated so it breathes. It was recently added to California's "Title 24" energy calculations when State Assembly Bill 970 passed in 2001, making it part of the permit process for new homes. You can easily retrofit it into an existing home, saving you from 25 to 50% on your energy costs. We do not do soundproofing or blown in wall insulation

We wont know the value of this insulation job for a few months so that is reason for this rating. The sales rep was very personable and the installer was extremely efficient. We are hoping to see a reduction in our heat/air bill.

We had radiant barrier insulation installed insteads of blown in insulation. It was laid in the attic rafters, upon the completion of the job the service provider could have done a better job of cleaning up. He also left some marking on our cabinet. When the gentleman came over to give us an idea of what radiant barrier is we never knew when he would be there, they gave us an estimate but then upon completion we wrote a check, but never received a receipt of payment, or work order showing completed work. All we had was the gentleman sign the estimate that we had been given two weeks prior to the job. And the installer did not have any paperwork saying that he did the job. But we had him write that on the estimate. I would expect more professional paperwork.

They did not do what was requested and agreed to. We did get the square footage in the contract, but we had contacted them because we wanted the ducting covered as well. The salesperson said "we can do that" without even looking in the attic. When the job was complete (and paid for), we were then told they could not cover the ducting. We were also never called back by the salesperson with an explanation. If you say you can do it...do it, otherwise just tell the truth. Disappointing!!

Dennis was very cooperative and informative. The installation crew did not install the fiberglass bats that was called for in the bid. I have no way to determine how well they installed the cellulose insulation as I am too old to climb through the attic myself. They only made a half-hearted effort to clean up the garage and driveway after I had to ask they to clean up the mess. They told me how many bags of insulation were installed but could not tell me how many cubic feet of insulation that it would provide. I would like to know how many bags of insulation were calculated in the estimate by Dennis.
