"Mr. M. [Consumer name withheld at their request], I apologize for not preparing you for the realities of a proper home inspection. We always strive to leave the home in the same condition or better but the actual inspection process is very hands on. Our goal is to discover deficiencies and that involves a very hands on approach. Merely looking at something does not suffice. One must put hands on everything that moves and be sure it is secured properly and functioning. I can't tell you how many times something that looks perfectly normal comes off in my hand because it is not secured correctly. So we open every door and window. look in every cabinet, pull on every stair rail, run every electric device and fill every sink. It looks rough because it is supposed to test the normal operation of everything in the home. I do recall dropping my microwave oven testing cup and shattering it at your inspection. Maybe that is what you are referring to here. Accidents happen and I cleaned up the shards. Again, I apologize for not properly preparing you for the inspection."
