We had an old deck removed and new deck built by Steven Shick. The design process was very professional,the work was done on time and the quality was excellant. I can without hesitation recommend Steven Shick for your deck project.

We had a small deck built off an existing 2nd floor deck midway between the 2nd floor deck and the ground level. Steps and railings had to be built to and from the new mid level deck leading to the second floor deck and to the ground level. We also had a ground level patio deck built. All this was done with composite decking materials. The mid level deck was built so a step in hot tub could be installed below the level of the deck. This turned out to be more complicated than we realized but they did an outstanding job. The end result is quite beautiful and they were able to match materials to our existing composite deck. Their work is excellent quality and they were very pleasant to work with. We also had a time crunch when we hired them and they got the job done in time. We highly recommend this company!

We wanted to refinish our deck with composite decking and more modern railings and came across Steven Shick in our HomeAdvisor search. From start to finish, I thoroughly enjoyed the process of working with Brian and Steven and will be doing more projects with them in the future. Steven came by to give us an estimate and really understood my vision and was patient with me as I debated with myself over every little design detail down to the last square inch. He mocked up my new deck as we progressed and shared the updated designs at every turn and kept me involved in the process as he worked to purchase and procure materials from Carter Lumber. His son Brian does all the build work and his attention to detail and work ethic are second to none. Brian kept me in the loop throughout the entire build process and let me know up front that he wouldn’t be offended if I saw something along the way that I didn’t like or wasn’t sure of. In the end, I never had to exercise my opinion as Brian has a real eye toward a quality build. The finished product is more beautiful than I could’ve ever imagined and I know that we will have a quality deck to enjoy for decades. As others have mentioned, Steven and Brian will need to store their tools in your garage and will come and go as they please, but make no mistake, they will deliver at every turn and will be of no bother to you throughout the process. At the end of the day, I was able to get a more quality deck with all of the options that I wanted for less than 2/3 what other builders wanted for a more rudimentary design. I will be doing other projects with Steven and Brian in the future and encourage others to work with this quality operation.

Steven's son, Brian, did great work on the construction of the deck. Steven rarely showed up to the worksite. The deck took approximately 9 weeks to complete because they didn't show up on many of the nice days to perform work. I understood that winter weather could interfere with the construction but many, many very nice, dry, and warm days went by without anything getting done. They only worked for 3-4 hours a day, on average, when they did work. I also knew in advance that they needed to keep their tools in my garage but tying-up my garage for 9 weeks was unacceptable. We were going to have Steven put up the pergola but his price was so exorbitant that we decided to pass. Overall, we have a deck that's built very well but using Steven wasn't worth the aggravation of approximately 9 weeks of construction. Be wary of time constraints and additional costs.

Steven did a great job of listening to my 'vision' and turning it into blueprints and a physical deck. Brian, his son, did excellent construction of the new deck and pergola along with replacing the railing system on the existing deck. Brian was respectful of the property, especially the greenery that exists in the construction area. While there will be some damage to the plants, he took great care in minimizing that as well as adding the new deck to co-exist with the plants. They were also clean and kept their tools and equipment out of the way. They also cleaned up after they were finished, leaving the property without any trash or debris! I would absolutely hire them again!
