Sturdy made the entire project enjoyable with great communication and reasonable costs. I had a leaky 20 year old roof that they came and tarped right away for me and the tarping cost was then applied toward the cost of the new roof a week later. I gave the job 5 stars on quality because I am required to, but the roof was just completed yesterday so I really don't know the quality of the job yet.

Adam was as friendly as could be when he explained (in so many words) that the leaking roof was designed to leak. He even had the salesman to come back out and make nice in hopes U would prefer that to a roof that did not leak. I sent numerous photos and videos of the leaking roof. Adam told me I was not the only one, MANY customers were complaining about leaking roofs installed by Sturdy. Adam assured me that it was a manufacturing issue. Apparently, this manufacturing issue was rampant, since so many Sturdy customers had the same issue. They also illegally installed shingles on a relatively flat roof, violating the code for grading. Adam was super sweet, never shying away from letting me know there was nothing Sturdy could do about leaking roofs THEY INSTALLED. However, I was assured by Sturdy that the leaking roof I had - prior to Sturdy installation - would no longer leak. They did as promised: they ripped off the leaking roof, and replaced it with another leaking roof. See? The old roof would never leak again! They left some pieces behind. When John returned to take photos verifying the stained and damp roof from under the eaves where the flashing should be, he never took the leftover pieces. Now that is customer service! If you want to pay for a roof that leaks, I could not give Sturdy a higher recommendation. For this specific and specialized clientele, no one does it better than Sturdy!

Excellent communication and detail oriented.

The crew was left alone to do the job. when there was a problem with the solar components, they had no idea what to do to seal the areas. I have had leaks ever since and they did not answer my calls. They did not use a dumpster when they took our old roof off. They simply threw pieces to the ground. The crew was nice enough but, they simply had no experience with the solar piece ,no dumpster and no guidance. I have had to pay other professionals to correct the leaks. Do not hire these people. The salesman is slick . The job was a mess and no one got back to me to correct the problems. The crew admitted they had never worked around solar before. Think twice about this company and ask a lot of questions .

From the moment we met John from Sturdy Home Improvements, my husband and I both appreciated his straight forward approach to our roofing project. He was professional, knowledgeable and listened to our needs. We had a leak in our roof and knew we had to get the work done immediately, our job was put on the schedule promptly. The crew that came to our home to replace our roof was also professional, extemely hard working and demonstrated team work of a group that had been together for years. Sturdy was building a new bathroom in our basement. As with all construction there were difficulties in a process but they all were resolved to our satisfaction. We communicated our issues and guys made notes in order to avoid similar issues in a future. Good job!

I have a problem with their work and called but no one has come to fix it in over a month.

I obtained a VA grant to make my bathroom and deck handicapped accessible. Sturdy accepted the job and helped us through the complicated paperwork. The deck was completed in 2 days. The workers were prompt and did expert work. The bathroom was completely gutted and rebuilt. It is absolutely perfect. The carpenter was knowledgeable and meticulous. He created a handicapped accessible bathroom that is both functional and stylish. We are thrilled with the finished product.

Customer service is great, nothing else good to say about this company. After two years of incomplete finish of project, I asked them to leave and had to pay someone else to finish the project.

Very friendly and expert work

The company came to do the work and only worked for three hours the first day. They said they would finish the skylights before they left on the first day but did not. The second day they worked five hours - thus could have completed in one day. They left everything dirty - we had to ask them to wipe down the windows and they did a poor job. The ledges were left dirty and we needed to take a vacuum to it. It took them forever to get a few things fixed and thus the time ran out on our loan time frame. Since the company that gave the loan made a mistake, we were able to adjust the time table. We were very disappointed.

Updated Review: I originally had some issues with the finish of my project the owner of Sturdy contacted me and made things right with me. Original review listed below. FAILED PROJECT. The framing on my kitchen addition was done so poorly that the walls are not straight and both the floors and ceilings are not level. This is causing major problems with installing cabinets, etc. Sturdy's workers rarely showed up on time. Had to to beg them to show up. A 1-3 month project wasn't completed for over 7+ months and living without a kitchen for so long= major life disruption. This company never cleaned up nails & debris in my yard after the project was done. New french door does not work, installed improperly. Project was over budget and way WAY behind schedule. You couldn't pay me to use Sturdy again. Stay far away! BEWARE.

We contracted with them in May to build a 12x20 addition for a workshop. The proposed start date was the 1st of August with a 6 week build time. However, the 1st of August came and went and they hadn't even gotten the building permit. I had scheduled vacation for the second week of October to be able to paint and setup shop. Bottom line...they didn't even begin the foundation until mid September. So I spent my October vacation watching them build. I had hoped that by hiring a large company the scheduling wouldn't be a problem. We actually had a quote from a small company that was a few thousand dollars cheaper, but I was concerned about their ability to deliver on time. Now I will say that once the work began they pressed on through and actually completed by the end of October. Their crews really busted their butts and did great work... Overall I'm happy with their work...It's just their communication skill left much to be desired.

Excellence is their sincere goal. While I had to exercise some necessary oversight, Sturdy Home Improvement came through on every potential issue and made them right. They are a company with integrity and highly capable. I will hire them again.

So far so good! Our job is about halfway completed. New addition to our master bedroom, plus new roof and siding. They have been easy to work with and are very responsive to all our questions/concerns.
