I had several adjacent outlets in the kitchen not working and a dimmer switch in the bathroom not working. I specifically requested the electrician to bring white gfci outlets and a dimmer light switch for the bathroom, describing them exactly and the electrician acknowledged what I was requesting. He neglected to bring either of these devices which I specifically asked for. The impression I have is that it appeared that he was trying to run up the clock by unnecessarily creating circumstances necessitating a return visit to fetch the parts I asked him to bring in the first place, thus increasing hours spent on the job. He did an excellent job diagnosing the problem and but replaced a bad gfi outlet in the kitchen with a normal (non gfi) outlet and got it working again, which made it functional again. However, since there was a gfi outlet there originally, I told him I want replace "like for like", He as willing to put a gfi there, but he would have to fetch one at he shop. Yet he said a gfi was not necessary because the breaker was gfci protected. I have no reason do doubt that this is true, but if so, why did the original electrician put a gfi there in the first place, if there was no reason for one? Even though it may be perfectly safe and in compliance without a gfi outlet, I am left with somewhat of question mark that a gif outlet somehow should have put there, as one was installed originally, even though he may be right that it is not necessary and redundant, I am simply not comfortable with not having one there, as the original installer put a gfi there since it is close to a sink on the countertop, typically required by code to have a gfi, If it is so unnecessary, why did the original electrician put a gfi there? It leaves a question in my mind, which I should not have. Again, he assured me it is perfectly fine due to the gfi breaker circuited for that outlet, which again I have no reason to doubt, but still it makes me uncomfortable and I feel the need to further verify this, because there must have been a reason the original installer put one there. This is a need and stress I should not be made to feel. To clarify, again, whether it conforms to code or not, the new installation was not what I wanted and specifically requested and I feel uncomfortable about a non gfi outlet in that location. He also replaced a dimmer switch in the bathroom with a normal simple rocker switch, again because he simply negleted to bring a dimmer as I had asked, but he did in fact get it working again fine. I approved of the replacement, as I had no choice if I wanted a working switch at that time, lest wait till he run to the supply house to fetch a dimmer switch, which of course would increase job time. He was professional, knowledgeable, and answered many questions very patiently and courteously. His charges were fair based on the time he spent working. He knows his job very well, was careful, polite and diagnosed the problem very accurately, honestly a
