Sun City Awning and Patio

Professional job of replacing the canvas awning at my home. Best bid of 3.

No problem with the project except the 3-5 week completion turned out to be 10 weeks plus 1 day. Compleation dates were not kert once promised Getting updates or explainations was very difficult. Maybe the project was too small.

Do not contract with these people. They failed to perform and failed to follow through with their contract. Their customer service is not up to par and if you hire them you are a fool.

Project is a work in progress. So far things are going as scheduled.

On 2-21-2018 we entered into a contract with Sun City Awning to have a Patio Cover added to our home located in Yavapai County. Everything looked good with the contract and the drawing created so we wrote a check to the sales rep in the amount of $5,726.00, 50% of the total cost of the Patio Cover. We were told that the next phase would be getting the Permit from Yavapai County which could take 5-6 weeks. On 4-9-2018 (over 6 weeks later) I called Sun City Awning to get a status on our project. I received an email the next day saying they were "waiting for a Site Plan from Yavapai County". They said the Site Plan should be to them 3 days later. On 4-24-2018 I emailed Point of Contact at Sun City Awning asking if Site Plan was ever received and an update on the project. I received no response for 2 days. On 4-26-2018 I called the Point of Contact. I got a promise that he would find the status and call me by Close of Business that day. Didn't happen! On 4-27-2018 (the project is now 9 weeks since signing contract) I called Point of Contact again and was told nothing on the project had happened. The drawing done on 2-21 was not released until 3-28-2018 (5 weeks). We cancelled the job and asked for a refund of our Contract Deposit and an email confirming cancellation of project. On 5-2-2018 we received an apology email from Sun City Awning for delays caused by Yavapai County Permits. A phone call to Yavapai County Permit Dept revealed nothing had ever been filed by Sun City Awning for any work related to our address. On 5-3-2018 we received an email from Sun City Awning stating that they have nothing on Permit info (which we knew). They said they were ready to submit when asked to cancel Job. Later that day we received a call from Point of Contact telling us the owner of Sun City Awning is willing to hand carry documents to Yavapai County Permits Dept that day. We declined as they were beyond 10 weeks at that point. Sun City Awning spent almost a month blaming Yavapai County Permit Dept for all the delays when Sun City Awning had never filed for a permit with Yavapai County. The following day we received a call asking us to come to the office to pick up our full refund, $5.726. In conclusion: As a consumer utilizing licensed contractors, we question what additional steps we should have taken to ensure the contractor to be reliable and operating within ROC Guidelines along with keeping a consumers best interest in mind. Our phone call inquiry to Yavapai County Permits revealed that there was nothing in the system for this business applying for a permit for our address. This business was not performing to contract, blaming Yavapai County Permits for the delays and delaying return of our deposit paid on 02-21-18, in the amount of $5,726.00 when we cancelled the contract on 04-27-18. We are relieved that as of 05-04-2018 we drove to Sun City Awning to pick up our $5,726.00 Deposit.

They were good in keeping us abreast of the date order would be done. Great customer service.

This company sent out a salesman to inspect the job. The rep told me I probably needed flashing between the house roof and the patio cover. He made out a work order and advised that someone would contact me to schedule the work. It has been a week now since the sales rep was here. I called the sales rep once but I still have not heard from the scheduler. I guess they don't want small time jobs. Update: They never scheduled the appointment, however they did call me a week and a half later saying they would be there the next day at 11:00. They did show up and fix the issue within an hour. The customer service with the sales rep and that man who came to do the work were very polite.

They do great work.
