Very efficient and professional!
Thank you, Bill!
Very thorough.
Thorough
I had a genuinely horrible experience, in the end, with TerraFirma (TF). At first, they were helpful and responsive. I was considering purchasing a home, and they came out and gave me a quick bid. When I learned there were foundation issues, I ultimately opted to purchase the home based on the estimates TF provided to install multiple helical piers. I then hired them for the work, and they were able to get me on their schedule quickly. They arrived on time, and were pleasant to engage with. I gave them about $35,000 for this work. When the seasons started to change, my front door started sticking and it became very difficult to open. Also, I had cracks open up in several walls, doors that would no longer shut, and tile floors that separated from the bath/shower in both of the bathrooms (see pictures). I called TF and their staff communicated that they should have installed piers around either side of the front door, and that they should have also better secured the middle of the home, suggesting smart jacks at the wall/door joint. So, they fairly promptly scheduled a time to install two more piers around the front door. (They did not inform me ahead of time that I would need to remove the hot water heater in my garage for this job, and I was in a bind to do it myself the day before their visit.) They then suggested running a beam across the length of my house, but were concerned about the potential for damaging the new flooring, cabinets and counters in the kitchen. So then, one of their managers came out and, after his re-assessment, said that he was not convinced that a beam would be appropriate, nor would water mitigation solutions and smart jacks. Instead, he wanted to monitor the house for a full year to track foundation changes from the weight to dry reason. While the perimeter of the house hadnâ t moved, the center of the home had â to the extent that many posts and pads were no longer touching during the dry season. After a year of monitoring, which included me tracking this manager down for several appointments, he said he would have a solution for me and call me within two weeks. After 4 weeks, I called TF, and they told me that this manager retired, did not have notes for most of his visits, and that they would not be paying for a solution for the center of my house. I now believe that they did this for the purposes of pushing me outside the window of time required for CCB complaints â lesson learned. You have one year after the work is completed to submit a formal complaint. Since that time, weâ ve since had several email conversations that were, in my opinion, extremely unprofessional and unkind. In one email response, the owner, Ryan Beckley, described feeling frustrated for dealing with customers like me, with â amnesiaâ , and blamed the center of the house on me, for cutting corners. In addition to the lack of professionalism, their work was expensive and incomplete. I am out $35,000, and the center of my house is a mess. I also recently started digging up my downspouts to try and fix some of the lingering issues myself and some of the drainage they broke and repaired during pier installation is already falling apart (see picture). The 1.5 years I spent dealing with this company was extremely stressful. I feel taken advantage of and I would never recommend TF to anyone I care about.
Ms. K, We realize you are frustrated that the Construction Contractors Board declined your complaint. We take issue with your allegation that we slow-played serving your needs as a tactic to delay your ability to file said complaint. As our records show, weve returned to your home numerous times to inspect the performed work, provide warranty repairs, and offer you multiple bids for additional work that you did not contract. As you stated in your own review, we were helpful and responsive. In November of 2020, you contracted with TerraFirma to stabilize an exterior portion of your foundation (see drawing on your signed contract). That work was permitted, engineered, and then installed in January of 2021. During installation, we recommended water mitigation, and you elected not to contract to perform that work. Please review the proposal from January 2021. Over the course of the past two-plus years, on many visits to your home, weve continued to recommend water mitigation and communicated that the repairs you seek are outside of the warranty related to the performed stabilization contract. Earlier this year we even agreed to honor the original 2021 pricing of the waterproofing estimate in good faith. Since your 2021 installation, weve returned multiple times to check the performed work and provide warranty support. We continued to monitor any movement with the piers installed and confirmed that they had not moved. We have stood behind the stabilization work you contracted. In essence, you want us to perform work you did not elect to purchase. TerraFirma prides itself on standing behind the work we perform and going above and beyond for our customers. We are confident weve done that here.
Initial assessment and customer service throughout was great. However, the work itself was not done well initially, resulting in the supervisor of the crew demanding work being redone free of charge. I was glad the supervisor stepped in to ensure the work was done properly, but frustrated it took extra time to complete.
30-year-old, single-family-dwelling, in a very difficult predicament, including multiple sets of circumstances and conditions: the entire team at TFFS was exceptional in every way... i am immensely impressed with the finish products and the professional care they exhibited... i will most-definitely include this firm for consideration and inclusion in future projects.
On time and very informative.
The warranty won me over!
Very efficient, thorough and took the time to show me tons of pictures of the underside of my house. Great explanations of why they choose to do certain things.
