Huge shout out and thanks to James the barefoot builder 631-504-8703 for making the entrance to our pantry a fun conversation piece. Jim was quick to respond to my initial request for a quote to install this Murphy door. He was prompt to answer questions and schedule a date to complete the work. He not only showed up on time, he was meticulous in his work, and left the kitchen tidy when he was done. We now have a cool place to put our cookbooks and decorative plates. I can?t wait for him to come back and do some other fun projects for us! If you have a project you need done, small or large, I cannot recommend him enough. He has years of experience in building and construction and a great eye for design.

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD! I am absolutely stunned by my experience with Abraham Thornton and his company, The Barefoot Builder. Hiring them to install an in-wall fireplace has turned into one of the most stressful, infuriating, and disappointing home-improvement experiences I?ve ever had. What was supposed to be a simple three-day project turned into a drawn-out mess that was never completed, and the condition my bedroom was left in is documented in the photos below. From the very beginning, I felt like I was dealing with a scammer instead of a professional service. Each day brought a new round of lateness, excuses, and unskilled work that left me wondering how this could possibly be a real business. I cannot express how upsetting it was to walk into my bedroom and see the state things had been left in. Without any explanation, warning, or accountability. Do NOT hire The Barefoot Builder! Abraham Thornton is a SCAMMER who claims he is a ordained minister! LOOK AT THIS!

"Chantay, These pictures were taken before work was completed, and you know it. I communicated before you even took them that the drywall wasn't finished, and that we would be back to finish it. Yes, the project was taking longer than expected, but we were working on it. Unfortunately, you chose to send a series of increasingly hostile text messages even after this was explained, and then became aggressive to my associate when he arrived to continue the work. I believe your words to him were along the lines of "I want you to get this s*** done and get the f*** out of my house." The work wasn't completed because as I told you privately, I no longer felt comfortable working with you. I never collected payment for the work, and advised you to use it to hire someone else. Your review is full of half truths and outright lies. There's a reason that I fired you as a client."

????? Absolutely Unreliable and Dishonest ? Avoid at All Costs The Barefoot Builder (Abraham and Kenneth) are the most unprofessional and unreliable contractors I?ve ever dealt with. Angi recommended them on Sept 30. After multiple delays ? photos requested on Oct 3, job surveyed Oct 4, estimate received Oct 7, and price agreed ($100 per window frame) ? they finally scheduled work for Oct 17 at 9 a.m. By then, the project was already a week behind, but I agreed to wait. On Oct 17, I checked in at 9:14 a.m. and was told, ?Absolutely, I?ll be there before noon.? Then came excuse after excuse: a ?family emergency,? ?Kenneth is on the way,? ?45 minutes out.? They never showed up. At 5:30 p.m., I told them not to come since I had already done half the work myself. Zero integrity, zero respect for people?s time, and no work ethic whatsoever. A complete joke of a business ? stay far away.

"How can a project be a week behind before work was ever scheduled? You told me when I showed up that you couldn't get anyone to even come out for such a small project. When I gave you the quote, you pulled the "I'm a veteran, can I get a discount?" card, and I agreed to do the job for what would have been a loss. I was on my way to your house when I got a call from my son's school that he was sick. It happens."
