About a month ago, I contracted Chimney & Fireplaces Company to repoint my brick chimney. Before starting, he requested a $3,000 deposit. After canceling twice, he finally came after I specifically told him I had to get the problem solved because rain water was leaking into the house and ruining the walls. When I came back from work to see how things were going I was taken back by the messy job he was doing. First he used the wrong tool for grinding out the cement. He told me he ordered the correct one and it had not come in yet. The agreement was that he was to grind 1/2 inch into the cement (which is standard) and then replace it with new cement. I discovered that he only went in ¼ inch, and already had worked half-way up the chimney. He then told me he could only go in 1/4 inch. Before proceeding and only going 1/4 inch into the cement he should have called me, not proceed ahead. The cement that was replaced was a mess. Pieces of dried and wet cement were sticking out between the bricks and there was cement all over the plants and ground where the cement dropped. They never cleaned up after themselves. He then lied and told me that they could not continue working as my tenant said they could not work past 4 pm, when my tenant was out of town. I decided to call a roofer I used in the past. He came to look at the job and said it wasn t done correctly. I called Alex and said that I didn t want him to complete the job and I wanted my $2300 back. He could keep the $700. He said he needed time to think about it. I said I would give him two days. When I called him two days later, he never answered my call or my text. I now have to pay for someone to fix his mess. I would never recommend him ever. He lied about details and his worker did not have expertise. He is not professional. Do not use him.

The first job that they came to do, was incomplete. They came back for the second time and charge me $700 in labor for ONE hour of work. They completed the work the second time but that should be done the first time when they came. It was very difficult to get in touch with him between the first and second time.

Expert diagnosis was on point...bought the part required and installed it....my pellet stove now is working perfectly....thanks a lot...

Alex is very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing on fireplaces of every age and has conquered many issues I didn't think were possible.
